I would like to export bookmarks, extensions and password logins from my main pc which latest version of Firefox ie 124.0.2 to another pc which also has Firefox 124.0.2 installed.

Now,i always get confused and mess things up...do i just copy :
Key4.db
Logins.json
and paste these into the other pc's Firefox profile folder...default release i think or do i have to copy the whole contents of default release profile folder
and paste this into other pc's Firefox profile default release folder to get not just passwords logins but all bookmarks and extensions ?

Thank you

Thank you for reply OAT,

It never occurred to me as the only devices i have are are 2 pc's that have Firefox installed.
Will give this method a go sometime next week ...when the other half is back at work.

Have a nice weekend,
Bye

Exporting password logins (cookies) is generally not allowed to prevent hackers from stealing sessions.
Firefox sync takes care of most and you can also copy your profile to get 99% settings, but not logins.

Tried syncing but when i i launced Firefox on main pc everything got messed up i cannot see any of my extension add ons on toolbar as was before i starting syncing.
I can see add ons listed in Manage Your Extensions menu all enabled but Pin to overflow option it's greyed out in puzzle icon and when i click gear icon opposite 'Manage Your Extensions' sentence and click ' Manage Your Extension Shortcuts ' the option to Pin
to Toolbar ' is not there.
I obviously clicked something wrong somewhere..i wish i never tried it ...even the most visted sites had 3 rows instead of 4 rows.
I do not want to do a fresh install of Firefox as some add on extensions have been have been discontinued now

No one to blame but me.

I had a similar problem some time ago with a fresh install of Firefox with add on extensions.
At least all my passwords logins are still ok

While syncing something got corrupted.

Oh well...time for a cup of tea...

Bye

Hello,
Right i sorted the add-on extensions icons not showing in toolbar...then i found another issue...the right click context menu options was not seen in Firefox ie 'Save as...'

Then i remember i wrote a method down from somewhere....
Enter about:config in Firefox search bar then search for ' dom.event.contextmenu.enabled ' ( without quotation marks )
and set to false.

Close Firefox and re-launch it...and guess what...the right context context menu appears.

I think certain values in about:config are set back to true or false and you have to set to false or true.

Pretty sure you are correct there. They are per install settings.

It’s handy to have a folder somewhere with notepad files for processes you go through.
For example; in this case a notepad file called “Firefox” listing all the above.

Thanks for reply antspants,

I did have folder in my room with methods using about:config and other methods from members in Windows 11 Forum...but can't find it and sometimes Googling but methods sometimes refer to older Firefox versions.Prefer using copy / paste method of Profile folder in default release.
Will avoid Syncing.

Anyway, i am happy i got my problem sorted.

Bye...Have a nice day.

Is there an easy way just to backup extensions or a particular extension like we can do in Chrome (pack an extension)?

Lately, there have been some Chrome and eventually FF extensions which have been compromised if auto-updating and I'd like to keep them in a safe and secure place.

On the Firefox Add-Ons page, it used to be you could right click on the “Add To Firefox” button and “Save As”
It’s how I got all my add-ons into a folder on my desktop.

Is this not still possible?

Coincidentally, an hour ago I was looking for the extensions for Firefox that I had on my old Windows 10 PC, in the user\appdata\roaming\mozilla folder. They are the files with extension *.xpi
Copied it to mi new PC desktop. From the name of the file it is not possible to recognize which ones they are, but when you double click on each one the name appears and once recognized... open with Firefox and install.

Downloading the way I mentioned above, I believe named them appropriately with the extension *.xpi
However things may have changed.

You can also add the add-ons from a local folder from within the extension page in Firefox.

I am not too fond of Sordum's utilities these days. Does Simple Firefox Backup v1.2 still work? It hasn't been updated since early 2020.

Thanks. I found the extensions I was looking for. Some have obvious names, others do not. I saved them in my Google Drive.

To install, you need to go to your extension page: "about:addons" and click on the chain wheel , install from add-on.

That’s not always a bad thing, perhaps nothing was wrong with it? I use my Firefox Sync account, the trouble with that for you is if anything changes and you’re not happy with it, you get stuck with the updated add-on. I don’t believe there is a choice at Mozilla for incremental backups.

Normally, I'd agree with that logic. But FF has had many updates since 2020 (version 78). Now, we're at 125 and it's reasonable to assume personal folders and permissions would change since them.

However, I believe the application is no longer supported and is depreciated, but if it still works as intended, I'm good with that.

Apparently there is a way to backup the extension. It's saved as an .xpi file. Just search for all of them and save them (use ZIP to compress).

Not sure how that affects the backup app? The folders and files are in the same place, then I don’t think it would matter. It’s basically just taking what you need and then replacing it when you want it.

I have never used it, I am happy with FF Sync, and like I mentioned above, all the add-on’s I need are in a folder. Every now and then I return to FF Add-ons and do the ol rightclickaroo and they’re downloaded and saved as an .xpi.

I might give Simple Firefox Backup a go in the near future. (y) 🙏
