I have Windows 11 HOME . In the Advanced attributes under file properties in file explorer , the "Encrypt contents to secure data" is greyed out . I tried setting NtfsDisableEncryption entry in the registry to 1 as well as turning on Encrypting File System service and setting it to Automatic ; also using cmd prompt to set it manually , but none of the methods worked.

are there other methods to turn it on?
Is this feature available in Windows HOME edition ?

Thanks

The OP is not talking about BitLocker. This is EFS (Encrypted File System). However, the end result is still the same in that EFS, like BitLocker, is not included in the Home editions of Windows.

Yeap, I wasn't talking about Bitlocker, just an option under file explorer -> properties of the selected file -> Advance attributes . I was just wondering why it is greyed out. Thanks.
