Since Firefox version 100, when I click on hyperlinks, blue borders are added to them. It doesn't happen on every website, but it happens on many that I visit.

I can usually temporarily fix the problem by closing Firefox and opening it again. But the problem eventually returns.
I've attached a before and after screenshot to show you what I mean.

It's only a cosmetic problem, but it's annoying.
Any ideas?

Well, here's what changed with FF 100...

If it's not any of that, the 1st place I would look is extensions.

Hi Ghot.

My guess is that it's got something to do with the new Website Appearance settings, or the Colors > Manage Colors settings.
But it's only a guess. I've tried changing those settings without any success.

Also, this new feature looks like something that may cause it.
  • The focus indicator for links changed from a dotted outline to a solid blue outline to unify focus indicators across the browser.

@Stigg

I saw that, but I don't see any changes in links, and all I run is Firefox.
So I don't know. If you have a link to a site where you see it, I can check on my end for you.
I haven't touched any of the Website Appearance settings either, and I'm running the default FF theme.

Not hover. CLICK!
If you middle click (which opens a new tab), you'll get a better view of what happens to the link. But unless you have a really fast internet connection, you'll still see it with a left click.

Hi,
Same for me as Ghot.
Other web sites links either go black to blue or black to gray or just add underlines nothing consistent beside different website designers.

Middle click just opens the link for me.
My internet is 100/100

Middle click and hold... it turns red, like in the pic above.

I have no extensions, but I do run a userChrome.css file

Of all the years that I've used Firefox on numerous computers, middle clicking a link has always opened in a new tab.
Maybe you have a custom setting on your mouse wheel click.

Mine opens a new tab also. I just don't use that.
Generally I just right click and choose: "Open link in a new tab".
