At default compression, backups are about 1/2 the size of the used space on the C:\ drive.
Unlike System Restore which 'merges' what's on the C:\ drive with the Restore point, a restore from a backup 'overwrites' the C;\ drive with the backup.

This is very useful in that it will not only fix problems but it will remove viruses, ransomware, etc.
It can also be run, even if Windows won't boot.

Even if your C;\ drive dies, you can still restore your backup to the new replacement C:\ drive.

Don't understand why MS have set an expiry time for the new point in time restore points, the original system restore points had no expiry, which was perfect, for those if us who do not use their pc every day. I assume MS have created the new point in time restore point for users that use their pc every day, or as in commercial use don't actually turn them off.
It's a pity there isn't more flexibility over the retention time, but 'it is what it is' I guess.☹️

I have changed my insider from canary to beta, if I choose to unenrol next time there's an update will I have to reinstall windows ☹️ I've also rolled back windows to the previous version...only did this for the point in time restore feature, which turns out not to be suitable. Now doing a FULL back up with Hasleo just in case.

UPDATE
Well I'm out of the insider program now, just waiting for the evaluation copy watermark to go....
