For those with Linux VM's on W11 HOST -- 7-zip clone

Hi there
For those that run Linux VM's and like the Windows 7-zip archiver program - it's available in Linux -- simply install these two packages via your package manager on typical distros -- p7zip for the main program and p7zip-gui for the desktop gui. The interface is identical to the Windows version.

On Arch Linux / Manjaro install the GUI via the AUR (command yay pk7zip-gui and run as normal user - not as root or sudo) - it then does download the source tarball, compile and package build automatically from the source -- quite a lengthy compilation - but works a treat. A lot of Arch Linux software is also built from .deb type packages so any debian related software can often be made to work as well. Other distros have their own package manager systems e.g SUSE/FEDORA/RED HAT use .rpm software but the principle is the same.

On your Linux VM you usually need to install the developer tools / kit and then compiling from source (usually get the source from the git repository) is pretty automatic and being compiled for your specific machine will result in the software more likely to work.
