No its just a cooking style. Right handed people flip bacon to the left to turn it over - hence left over bacon.
Conversely, there is right over bacon for left handed people.
No sure how it works for people like my long departed dad who was ambidextrous. He never need to use a snooker rest! I used to think that was so cool and I always thought "I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous"
I assume it would depend on which hand he was using if it is right over bacon or left over bacon?
