It could be worse. A friend bought a fancy camera with dozens of filters and lenses, we spent most of day taking pictures with all of them and meticulously wrote everything down. When positives came back from developer. all pictures were perfect with no trace of filtering. It was in late 1980s so pictures were automatically "fixed". Had to take negatives straight to Kodak with note not to "fix" anything,

Our parents would not allow us to read comic books at the table, sounds familiar? Of course they wouldn't allow us reading comic books at bedtime. I remember hiding under the covers and use a flash light to read a story before falling asleep. If we had a smartphone back then it would be much easier to read our comics in digital form any time we had access to it.
