Get back the old tooltips popup only & without extras nor interference with other active apps..

Even with the startallback option, & without 7+ taskbar that i can't use on win11, i still get a stupid tooltip
wrapped in a skin.. Plus!.. the old classic tooltip popup which is the only one i need, but it's extremely delayed
before appearing & tooltips disappeared on the desktop sadly & without wish.

By getting rid of thumbnails & not tooltips which was my initial purpose,

How can i definitely avoid Only the skinned tooltip & get the normal tooltip
without both appearing & even less thumbnails that finally disappeared ?

can you use win+prsc to get a screencap of what you're describing so i can run a test on disabling what you want?

If you're referring to badges on taskbar icons, there is no need for any 3rd party app to accomplish that.

check this GPO (since you have the classic taskbar enabled)

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Remove Balloon Tips on Start Menu Items = ENABLED

or registry to same setting:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
new > DWORD = "EnableBalloonTips" and value = "0"

badges are notification style overlays, like when you have a new message for an app, etc. they aren't tooltips

possibly. not sure if restarting explorer will apply it. log off and back on is best bet to see if it will apply changes

with winaero - reenable thumbnails so its back to default settings. once there, apply that reg and check again. wondering if too many mods are creating conflicts

thats odd.. when i have thumbails enabled (never messed with them) and i have win 7 taskbar enabled via startallback... here is what i get:

ok, with how yours is.. i think the next thing we should try would be to substantially increase the delay show time for tooltips. let me dig up that reg and i'll post back

Didn't take the time to login, i got what you meant..
i changed the ExtendedUIHoverTime to 10000000
& of course the crappy skinned popup doesn't return,

but i still don't know how to have the non skinned tooltips
instead .. .

7+ should work in windows 11.. but aside from that, ok.. revert all changes we've played with so far. set the win 7 taskbar via startallback, do nothing related to thumbnails via winaerotweaker, install 7+ and set hover to tooltip and check it.

you said you can get 7+ to run on your pc.. does it give an error message?

for one, the author michael said it doesn't support win11 & proposed me to go check winhawk..
i installed 7+ a few days back & the whole options interface remained greyed out

that user in the link above had it working as of 2024... did you try running it in compatibility mode?

EDIT: you can try disabling aeropeek.. not sure if it will take effect on SAB or not..
