Getting new W11 build to see files on W7 storage machine

Windows 10
In my office I have a couple of Windows 7 storage arrays (old Adaptec adapters with lots of drives).
My main machine is W10 and it sees and can use all the files on either.
My new W11 build sees both W7 machines but will not access any files. The 2 W7 have all security turned off.
All connect through a Gb switch in the office, newer machine private network, old W7 Home network settings.
Feels like I am missing one setting on the new W11 build, probably security item, I did shut off private firewall - nope.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi, RealBeast, welcome to the Eleven Forums. 🙏

There are some members in here that have some decent tutorials/checklists, but I can’t remember who has what so I am having a little trouble finding them. They’ll be along at some point soon I am confident.
Until then and if you’re desperate to get communicating, have you tried creating a shortcut on your desktop \\computername

Assuming you mean 2 x Windows 7 PC's with Adaptec adapters and not an enclosure of some sort, then you will need to enter the Username/Password for each machine into Windows 11.

Username/Password are the credentials you used to log into Windows on each Windows 7 machine.

Open File Explorer (Windows 11) navigate to Network (lower left), then expand Network and click on the computername of a Windows 7 machine. It should ask you for Username/Password.

Using @antspants method should also work and ask for Username/Password or you can enter the \\computername address directly into the File Explorer address bar.

You can also enter the credentials via Control Panel.

Search for Control Panel on the taskbar. Open Control Panel and set the View by: to Category

Click on User Accounts > Manage Windows Credentials. Click on Add a Windows credential and type in the IP Address or computername for the Windows 7 machine in question and add the Username/Password. Repeat the process for the second machine, then reboot the Windows 11 machine.

With a little luck, that will get you sorted.

Yes, thanks -- I think that will do the trick. I'm handicapped ATM by another bad Corsair H170i until my Lian Li Galahad II arrives Friday (the H170i goes back to Best Buy, two strikes you're out).

I feel you, my Corsair H100x AIO cooler went bad also, so I had to resort to using the stock AMD Wraith cooler.

Surprisingly, the wraith cooler performs every bit as good as the H100x did with only a slight increase in temps when converting video.

Please let us know how you get on once the replacement cooler arrives though.
