Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi Mobo, Error Message: "Secure Boot Violation"

Windows 11
I recently upgraded to Win 11 from Win 10.

Before it would upgrade I had to change the BIOS to enable Secure Boot. Now, right after booting, I get the "Secure Boot Violation" error msg (see attached). OK does take me to the Windows Login screen, and Windows does seem to run just fine, but for obvious reasons I'd like to get rid of the error dialog.

I just flashed the BIOS to the latest version but that didn't help.
In the BIOS, PTT & SGX are both ENABLED, CSM is DISABLED.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Hello @DanH welcome to Eleven Forum.

I would try this first...

Disable CSM, make sure Secure Boot is enabled, then re-enable CSM.
You may have to disable Fast Boot... also.
See if that solves your problem.

Also... if you have an external drive connected... disconnect it.

In most cases CSM should remain disabled.
But on some motherboards (like mine for example), it needs to be enabled.

Thanks, Ghot, for taking the time to help! Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem. :-( In fact, even though I saved the BIOS with CSM disabled (twice), it was back on when I entered bios settings again. FYI, after the error msg, I booted to Win Login screen, then immediately choose Reboot and entered the BIOS upon reboot. In both cases, the BIOS had reverted to CSM disabled.

Well that was just the easiest option. Here's a bunch more.
Remember, for Win 11, you need PTT and Secure Boot enabled.

/edit

Might be easier to just call Gigabyte motherboard tech support...

CSM must be disabled to enable Secure boot on Gigabyte (really all) boards. I have Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Xtreme.

Additionally, when disabling CSM restart the PC and enable Secure Boot. Also make sure your enable the keys. Sorry not at my PC at the moment so I can't provide the correct verbiage at the moment.

It's also possible something happened during the flash. If so, switch to the backup BIOS. Read the owner's manual.

CSM must be disabled to enable Secure boot

CSM must be disabled to "configure" Secure Boot.

From OP's manual...

Image1.png

After it's configured... you can set CSM to whatever.

Mine is similar but opposite. I can only configure Boot Device Control when CSM is enabled.
Afterwards, I can disable it again, if I want. (ASUS X570 board)

My Secure Boot doesn't rely on the CSM setting at all.
