win cumulative updates windows 11, is there a list? in order? long story short my win11 was from a win10 update, etc.etc and it became a monster. I wiped it put a new win11 install, and it refused to get all the update, and am missing some netframework updates, causing lots of issues. So, I think I have 3.5 net frame, 4, 4.8. all going but am missing a lot of stuff. before, after and in between. Runtimes are really a problem. I know that if you know the KB, service number i can download updates, but i found that a pia at best. As most the time they are wrong, or out of order, or a guess. I got my self into this, and I see light at the end of the tunnel. Thanx. (another story, Meta Quest3 got me into this mess when it gave me issues, and when I tried to get that straightened out I just wipe the drive and started over). 26H2 (OS Build 26300.9550).

You could start with the News section: and your build number, for which thanks, is current:
1.webp

And from that section the latest .NET update seems to be

(Not checked what's on my Win 11 laptop as I'm using one with Win 10 currently)

but am missing a lot of stuff. before, after and in between. Runtimes are really a problem.
That's too vague to start hazarding a guess: if you're talking about Visual C:++ runtimes, those would be downloaded as necessary with programs you install, assuming you have indeed done a clean install - which would mean you deleted all partitions of the old O/S before starting the installation as per the clean install tutorial.

As for a list, as I guess you know, updates are cumulative, so the latest update incorporates the content of what preceded it.

Some ways to check installed .NET versions (there are many ways)

Search for Control Panel and open it. Switch view from grouped to large icons top right. Double click the Programs and Features and then click on Turn Windows features on or off. Click on the checkbox to enable Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 It becomes a square meaning only the basic features are enabled, this is normal, proceed to enable it. After a while you will be asked to allow downloading and installing the necessary files. Reply yes and wait to finish. Among others this feature is required to install the good old DirectX 9.0c Runtime. Older games look for specific DirectX 9.0c files to work. Download the latest version (June 2010) from this Microsoft site:

i was using their logic, that it doesn't have to be in order, or else i would have not been missing so many files and updates... lots of my stuff did not or does not work correctly because of missing software that hasn't come through to me from install and updates... been working day and night trying to find out why the installs went bad. I went to a newish ssd to make sure it wasn't the SSD. Most of my machine is very new, Video card, CPU, Motherboard, Some SSD's. Power supply is recent too. It refused to do the needed up, and finally got some to install. Yes they were suppose to be in order. I would have to go through each update with another computer to see what was cumulative.

In your earlier post you mentioned that some application required Microsoft .NET 2/3 framework. Obviously you can't install the standalone Microsoft .NET 2 and 3 from Windows XP in Windows 11. You don't need to. You only have to enable the feature, see my previous post.

you are right, for a couple days it refused to load these feature when I checked them. Then yesterday it decided it would after a couple days of fighting with the new install, it finally loaded these files. That is part of the reason why I am asking about these files. There is still something missing, but I don't know exactly, Cumulative makes it hard to know what they packed in ther without my head exploding. I worked with the hardware side in life. I decided software messed with my head too much, plus I have access to Win11, and with very bad health for a very long time and all the meds haven't helped my brain either. So, I thought, hey, I have a lot of really smart software brains here in Win11 forums I can ask! I am stil asses this Asus Z90-H motherboard, or 13900 CPU , maybe they caused the install that messed up the features not loading correctly. But this forum can help me look at the software part. Getting old sucks!

it missed items when loading a new install. I can remember single updates over the years before al the cumulative updates, when netframework was new with 1.0, 1. etc.. but they the updates became extensive packed with so much stuff, and most of us look and say I am not reading that, or do not understand what I am reading in the notes. We just assume that it took all the previous stuff and threw it in their too, into a massive one click update. But my computer decided it wasn't going to let me install the netframe package without a fight. So, it was missing something that is a prerequisite to that. That is what I have been going through. Apparently if it does not install something, it didn't install something else that comes first. Not being a software writer and engineer, that's why I am here, asking how to get this computer running correctly. It's hard enough trying to figure out if a piece of hardware has a part in this nightmare. Is the motherboard good? is the CPU good? did the Ram screw up? etc. so, the netframe must be ok if it is up to 4.8. nothing missing in the lower numbers. I can discount that. Something is still wrong. I can't install some of the software for the video card, getting errors. I am looking at missing runtimes. MOre fun for my brain. Now runtimes for the most part do not need them in any order. I need to find out if they are causing issues.

Windows 11 comes with .NET 4.8 built-in. This also implies 4.0 and earlier versions. However some old applications seek for specific files of .NET 2 or 3. To improve compatibility and let these run properly you enable legacy .NET framework 3.5 from Windows Features. This also includes version 2 and 3. Similarly Windows 11 comes with DirectX 12 built-in. This includes version 10 and 11. For older games and apps that seek for specific files of DirectX 9.0c, you have to manually download and install latest DirectX 9.0c Runtime from June 2010. I also enable DirectPlay from Windows Features, Legacy section.

Some newer apps and games might be based on .NET 5.0 or higher (formerly known as Windows Core 1.0 or higher). This is usually installed automatically with the app files. However, to make sure I am not missing anything, I have manually downloaded and installed all versions, both x86 and x64 of Windows Core 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 3.0, 3.1, .NET 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0 and 11.0 found here:

For the same reason, to improve compatibility, I have also installed Microsoft PowerShell 7, although I might never need it.

I ran tests on CPU, it failed, I fill out a support ticket. $500 intel 13900K is failing. that what probably caused the failed updates. Why it was so erratic. the math tests failed.

I ran Intel CPU tests, it fails, asking RMA for the I-9 13900K CPU, the ones that had the manufacturing defects with Oxidation in 2023. I bought one new in 2023, it had passed the tests and I put it in a new system back then. It failed. Now Intel is interrogating me before they give me the RMA. It is under Warranty.
