i thought id update back on this

the disk errors honestly after the chkdsk /r only happened twice, once with those normal errors (which didn't freeze my pc that time actually, i only noticed cuz i checked) and another time with this new weird error saying

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 during a paging operation.

but that didnt seem to do anything either... only noticed cuz i checked

now ofc after the chkdsk i did mention a lot of lagging errors to do with bluetooth, wifi, and basically any windows thing, but this ended up getting fixed after i installed my updated bios and reinstalled the bluetooth drivers

albeit during this my undervolt for my cpu also changed from -90mv to -80mv, but im not sure if that made a huge difference as well!

i also tried a few power plan stuff before this but none of that helped, but that could have been a certain cause as well

overall very weird situation and honestly no idea what happened throughout but im glad its gone now???? hopefully it stays gone...

ill keep you guys updates since i did just update my bios earlier and i havent tested it at school yet, just out of plug at home

i do want to add tho my laptop lagging during bluetooth hasnt fully gone away, there is still noticible hanging for a second or two despite me being plugged in or not, but the difference is that it is only for a second or so and it actually works now!

okay im looking back at this im pretty sure its just the energy system that is the issue,,, like how my power is used. cuz chkdsk might have messed with those energy settings.

if i turn energy saver on during battery it does lag a lot again, functionable but still notable, so i think it mihgt just be that 😭

There is a lot here I can not follow. From the information provided, I suggest you do all your troubleshooting with it plugged in. Set you bios to default and power settings set as balanced power plan.....no under/over volting. Then go from there. Start over with you troubleshooting. JMO.

ill try that, but mostly issues dont persist here on plug! sorry the thread really was a mess 💔

ill try to troubleshoot with that but its mostly been fixed to a certain extent now, but deifnately do need to try that out... undervolt is mostly for temp drops though

thanks again forum for the help

ill try that, but mostly issues dont persist here on plug! sorry the thread really was a mess 💔
Threads commonly get "messy" when people attempt to address an issue that produces symptoms that can be generated by a dozen or more different variables. From that point forward forum members draw on their own personal knowledge, experience, and expertise to provide potential solutions. Of course there is no "one size fits all" solution so what is more likely to result is a plethora of potentials, some better than others, several completely useless, and perhaps one or two effective solutions. Patience can be a huge asset.

This forum provides an abundant selection of trouble shooting guides, many of them quite useful. In fact, I dodge a huge number of issues here simply by following the trouble shooting guides and tutorials so I don't ask for help often, but when I do . . . It's usually a pickle and a half. :zany:

With respect to your challenge I would try something as boring as good olde fashioned msconfig and attempt to troubleshoot from there. I realize people don't like to use msconfig for troubleshooting because it involves a lot of starting and restarting, booting and rebooting but at times it can be quite effective at nailing down the problem.

So many things can generate hanging: Thermal issues, voltage issues, third party apps or programs, various kinds of hardware, virus scanners, etc. I recall a set of Bluetooth headphones that were just horrendous this way and I had to stop using them. In fact, it was one of those 'last straw' deals for me and I have not used Bluetooth ever since. But that's me. I realize other people have other results with Bluetooth.

Even internet can cause a PC to hang. Have you tried any of the Tutorials here? Anyway, if the problem persists to the extent that you start getting BSOD errors there are some very skilled folks here who can help. Wishing you the very best.

ill try that, but mostly issues dont persist here on plug. .......undervolt is mostly for temp drops though
I'll be honest. I'm not the best person to advise on deep hardware issues. I've never over/under clocked nor over/under volted. I just know mismatched voltage and frequency can cause issues. I don't have a lot of deep experience in hardware either so those here that are experienced in hardware may completely disagree with me and I welcome any correction. I'm just theorizing using what little common sense I have left about the most common sense way to troubleshoot... all the way from the beginning

Originally,, you undervolted to deal with heat. Other than heat problems, was everything else stable?

An i9 gets hot, really hot under load. I have one in a stock OEM setup PC. It's only a i9-10900 though so I can't control its clocking or volting. I had to resort to southern engineering 2 additional fans in a stock case to control it's heat which you can't do.
(I can't imagine dealing with the heat generated by an i9 and a RTX™ 4060 in a laptop where there is no air flow. Before under-volting I'd replace thermal paste and blowing the dust out. I'd try a cooling pad)

Since you say updating the bios fixed some things, regarding plug vs. battery, you say mostly issues don't persist on plug. Exactly what issues DO still exist when plugged in? Describe them. IMO those would be is issues to solved first to get everything working when the device is plugged in. This is done by process of elimination, testing between each trouble-shooting step.. Once everything works as expected plugged in, THEN deal with any issues dealing with power distribution when on battery.

You speak of lag and hang. Those are vague terms as to what is happenig. To me the basic trouble shooting steps for what I consider lag and hang to be would be as Scannerman says, starting with clean boot to eliminate software interference being the problem. Unplug any external peripherals other than a mouse while testing. Test performance between each step.
If it doesn't happen in a clean boot, you have some software conflicting with Windows. Brink's procedure will help you weed out which one. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Tutorial

The next step would be to make sure you have no corrupt system files that is causing this problem. Open a command prompt as administrator and type dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When complete, restart. Then open command prompt as admin again and run sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair

This gets down to proving drivers are not causing the lag and hang. That's done using safe boot.
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/boot-to-safe-mode-in-windows-11.538/

TO be on the safe side I would check the drive performance using CrystalDiskInfo. You can get the installable version online or the app from the Microsoft store.

If you've gotten this far and the OS is still acting flaky on plug, do a repair install. Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade
Once you are running a clean, stable default system plugged in, only then do your undervolting to try to control the heat. If your performance degrades again while still on plug, you know at least one of the causes. If you can't get stable on plug you have more than one problem.
--------------------------------------------

Then deal with your power issues while on battery. (which I believe leaves only 2 things, a bad battery or flaky mobo circuitry).
@Scannerman, does all that sound about right to you? Have I left anything out or gave anything that was incorrect?

thanks for the response!

the "lag" i mention is just slight like slows in my mouse movement and just the laptop in general slows down for a little bit

and yeah if course the temperatures are wild, especially on a laptop, but id say the problems are fine now, this undervolting was something i did a year or so ago

i have tried to run the stc /scannow but yet to do the dism one because it keeps getting stuck at a certain percent... will definately try that thiugh as that could definately be an issue

Also yes thank you, it might be conflicting software as you guys say but i will nred to test that as well after school hopefully

overall thiugh i appreciate the responses as it really did help me get to the bottom of the problem ❤️ im assuming it is to do with my power supply on battery

I'm curious. Does scannow get stuck or does it just take a very long time. If dism then perhaps it is trying to repair something? How much time to you give these commands complete their tasks?

I'm curious. Does scannow get stuck or does it just take a very long time. If dism then perhaps it is trying to repair something? How much time to you give these commands complete their tasks?
scannow works fine but dism sometimes just doesnt run or gets stuck at 62.3 (some jumber aroundn that), i gage it an hour onc ebut stills tuck on that number. tho i tried this on my school wifi and tbh it does block out a lot of stuff such as if it needed to download anything sos it might be tampering with it... ill give it a try at home

DISM getting stuck at around 60% is normal. It's still doing something so as was said, leave it alone.

yeahh i went ahead and did it along with another sfc scan and there were corrupted bth.modernsys files, and yeah i think it might have fixdd it?? 😭 it did say they were fine but if i have discord open while connecting to bluetooth there is still that slight lag, but i feel it might just be because discord does use audio and mic so there might be some conflicts there. but it seems to be fine(??) now if i use it normally like i did?? i still have to test over a few days to see if the overall thing gis fixed but i think for the most part it is atlelast usable

okay yeah after an ec reset nothing really changed tbh, i think im gonna leave it as it is because i am not experiencing any other issues unlike before, everything else except the bluetooth delaying my laptop for ~3 seconds upon turning it on (off battery) and ~1 second when turning it off. the wifi issues and disk issues havebeen gone... so i think ill leave it as it is

however, if anyone has any suggestions, ill be willing to give it a try! i was reccomended a windows ereinstall by an msi employee but i might hold that off until i need it or if i feel like it during my holidays
