Back in the day, we remembered them all!
Stopped into a Phone Booth, we didn't have to look up our friends numbers!

I still remember the phone number we had as a kid, though!

I still remember my grandparents phone number from the early seventies. Showing my age but I remember when the phone numbers were listed as letters. as an exaple 935 was listed a YE5 add 678 was listed as OR8. Still don't understand why they did it that way.

@Winuser You most definitely need to think when using AI/Copilot, the better your own thoughts are, the more you will benefit

@Edwin LOL, but seriously, if you're good at something (just about anything) AI can make you much better very fast at that something.

Perhaps that's why so many people think they don't have to put in any effort into AI, which is of course not correct.

Like with any human endeavor, the more effort you put into AI/anything the more rewarding it will be!

I remember that too Different in the Uk - they were just three numbers. It was so easy! Wasn't great when they became 6 numbers. Although I still remember my grandma's 6 digit phone number from many years ago as I can hear her voice saying it.

I reread the whole thread and like to make the following comment. The responses you get from Copilot are NOT deterministic. Let me explain.

I have 2 machines (machine #1 = work computer, machine #2 = fun computer) that I frequently use Copilot on. An identical prompt will get DIFFERENT responses, because Copilot generates the best response for the particular user/MS account of that machine based on past history.

In other words, don't feed your Copilot with garbage prompts all the time or your Copilot will think you are a garbage user and will give you garbage responses LOL

Vice versa, feed your Copilot with valuable prompts and your Copilot will think you are a valuable user and will give you valuable responses

Valuable does not mean meek or something like that. I have driven my Copilots very, very, very, very hard at times, they never get angry, they are machines LOL

Ask Copilot to explain circular logic.

If you have an Echo dot or show though, do you need copilot? Can copilot turn the computer on and off? We have a couple of echo shows. One as a bedside alarm and they also turn lights on and off and the ring doorbells are connected to them. You can ask Alexa most things as well. I guess the difference is, Alexa can't type them.

MS already released a similar product 2-3 years ago. It didn't last more than a few months before it went drastically... off the beam. It started swearing all the time and got seriously racist as well. They pulled it rather quickly after that.

I have no problems with "new" software... that works properly.
I do have issues with software that's half baked, and is released as working.

I’ve been using AI in Photoshop since its inception. I find it fascinating, some people are absolutely incensed as they see it a threat to traditional photography. Photography means writing with light, traditional photography is an electronic/mechanical capture of an image in a fraction of a second (usually), but still it is ‘machine made’.

AI in photography is a machine elaborated image produced by software following a written description. One could theoretically emulate AI in photography having the material and skills needed, but it would takes weeks to get similar results which AI provides in less than a minute.

Necessity is the mother of invention, but one can still take photographs without editing software, and indeed even photo- film is still available for a ‘purist’ approach, if you can afford its cost.

Ok, I'll admit it's pretty fast with general information. I asked a few questions about Scottish folk songs, Bing Crosby and although the info could be found on Google, it would have taken longer and various clicks and searches. The info was very comprehensive, very fast, and with some useful links at the bottom. I had a go with a picture as well

Although that is a good picture of an MGB roadster, it's the old model - when I tried to ask it for the 1980 version (with the rubber bumpers) it still painted the old model. So I asked it to paint the rubber bumpered MGB Roadster and got something very weird lol. And it's not an MGB it looks more like an MGC or MGA and not the actual car ........... So limited knowledge of 1980s british cars.

It did an ok job with a Massey Ferguson tractor though
