Went from Release Preview Build to Beta and got a combination of both.

What happened? Anything wrong with running my PC with this?

Really strange.

Microsoft has lost it's way. There's no longer a "method" to their madness.
Best ya can do, is just go with the flow and keep good backups, with good 3rd party backup software.

Yes of course, let us all blame it on Microsoft.

Anyone up to writing an OS with roots from 16 bit IBMDOS up to Windows 3.1?
Oh, and then move it up to 32 bit with Windows 3.11 & backwards compatible with 16 bit legacy.
Now make it 32 bit only with Windows NT with support for 16 bit stuff but not natively, now take it all the way to Windows 10.
You follow me? Then make it all the way to 64 bit whilst still being compatible with 32 bit. Dump 16 bit (finally...)
Could you make it Plug & Play, force the hardware manufacturers to adhere to the standards PLEASE, support USB, Bluetooth?
We could also let it run some linux kernel stuff; What is that locked up version of Linux which came from Unix (real OS this one), Android,
yes that's it! Use Python and Rust, support Hyper-virtualization and also watch TV while connected to your mobile devices.
Anyone, anyone? Bueller....

Sure MS did a lot of good things, but that's no excuse for the BS we're going through at the moment.

Ya wanna lose Control Panel and redo Settings... fine. But the "way" they're doing it, is what I have the problem with.
Do it or don't do it. But definitely do not drag it out for years. That's just... negligence.

It's also way past time for MS to realize that desktop computers aren't going anywhere.
At least not for 20-30 years.
So they can quit "gradually" squeezing everything down till it fits a 6x3 inch screen.
"When" desktops finally go the way of the Dodo bird... "then" they can switch to a tall skinny OS.
Trying to force it on people is just bad business.

Anyway... none of what we think matters, cause MS stopped listening right around Windows 8.

I am disappointed as well.
The thing that seems obvious is the lack of a clear objective and direction.
Let's look at Cortana; all that resource and determination to push it, and then we kill it 9 months later.
Let's look at the widgets; started off with weather, now it seems it wants to be jack of all trades.
Right now it's all aboard for Co-pilot, totally bypassing CM development cycles by going straight to Beta.
Grant it, it's nothing but a search site but still.
I would like to see a more careful approach and less hyperventilation over meaningless things.

Yes you did and yes I did. There was no way I could even Reset. The build wasn't recognized so did a freshy install.
