How do I deactivate a Facebook profile?

I have somehow managed to acquire 3 F.b. profiles and would like to deactivate two of them with a view to deletion later. I have done several online searches, but am having difficulty following the instructions, as I appear to be missing some details. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Yeah... Facebook doesn't make it easy. Their main office must be in California...

Just keep working at removing the profiles... in 6 or 8 months, you might even succeed.
If there was a quick solution, I would tell you.

All the social media sites are like that... "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave".
They have your data, and they're not going to give it up easily, or at all.
