This file is showing up in your OneDrive because someone shared it with you, but you don't have permission to delete it since you're not the owner. Here's what you can do:

1. **Remove the file from your view** - You can't delete it, but you can remove it from your OneDrive. Right-click on the file and select "Remove from my OneDrive" or "Stop syncing". This won't delete the original file, but it will remove it from your OneDrive view.

2. **Leave the shared folder** - If this file is part of a shared folder, you can leave the shared folder entirely by right-clicking on the folder and selecting "Leave folder" or "Stop syncing".

3. **Contact the file owner** - The owner ([email protected] based on the error) is the only one who can actually delete the file. You could reach out to them and ask them to either:
- Give you permission to delete it
- Delete it themselves
- Remove you from the sharing

The "Access Denied" error you're seeing is OneDrive's way of protecting files from being deleted by people who don't own them. This is actually a good security feature!

Just so you know, I made a mistake. I found out that its actually my file and I'm the owner. Its strange cuz since I'm the owner I should be able to remove it but I can't given the error message I provided.

But on the Home tab it states that the owner is someone else. But when I click on it, I get the error message i provided which gives my email address and which states that I'm the owner. That said, how do I remove it?

Add Take Ownership to the Right Click Context menu and right click any file or folder and Take Ownership of it to be able to Delete it.

I'm confused. I dont think this will work on adding this feature to the context menu when right clicking on a file on online onedrive. Btw, the file in question isn't on my local onedrive, its on the online onedrive. Let me know what you suggest.

The only option I have when I right click on the file on online onedrive is "open." What do you suggest?

Sign in to your Microsoft Account online and remove the file there.

You cannot delete a file from OneDrive that is not yours, but you can remove it from your view by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Remove from my OneDrive" or "Stop syncing." This action will not delete the original file, but it will remove it from your OneDrive
You can contact the author and have them remove it from your OneDrive.

As I mentioned before, theres no option that says, "remove from my onedrive" when I right click on the file. All I see is "open."
