How do you keep the left side bar from constantly expanding while touchscreening?

The sidebar with the tabs just keep opening randomly. It's so annoying and it's also really hard to close it without fiddling around with the interface.
I don't know if it's just my tablet or what, but I can't imagine people using edge regularly like this. Is Edge just not made for touch?

I do not have a touch device, but about a year ago MS announced changes to touch in Edge Canary. That release has had more than enough time to reach the public now. Brink has written several tutorials about touch. Take a look at them and see if one applies to your issue.
