How do you unlock the pc that's been locked? I can't reboot to do a system restore at all. Power cycling. F8. Shift l. Shift restart. Nothing works for that. I am the administrator of my pc, I have logged in on my android phone. That's the extent of that I am able to find... other than factory reset as I am told is the only way by the csrs..

Edited some spelling.. this is frustrating..

From a cold boot, make sure you are holding down the shift key the entire time Windows is booting up. Recovery options should appear immediately following the OEM flash screen.

If you are unable to get into recovery options to do a system restore, you can boot from windows installation media. Choose repair your computer. Then advanced options. Troubleshoot. System restore is one of the offline options as is reset PC option.

If you do not already have installation media, you would have to create a usb install drive with another computer.
If creating from another computer, use the second option-Create Windows 11 Installation Media-here.

To my previous post, let me add, this can not be done remotely. One has to be using the device.

I remotely locked it. My account is the administrator of the laptop. Nothing I've done with keyboard seems to have Any effect. It works for putting g in the pin when that's an option. But all the shortcuts don't work. the one big question I've been trying g to get answered is How do I log in as an administrator to unlock it?
Ii had actuslly come across that earlier. Already have a reply on the bottom. And I know its.over a year old, but I can try right?

Hello, :alien:

Usually, you would just need to sign into any administrator account in person on the laptop when it have been remotely locked using the "Find My Device" feature.

Do you see a sign-in screen?

Is the laptop connected to the Internet on the sign-in screen?

You could also see if you may be able to use option five in the tutorial below to enable the built-in Administrator account at boot, and then sign in to that account.

I am apparently going to have to make a new usb recovery drive. The one I have doesn't seem to do much anymore. I will get that all done and try with the account. Butnhaving a 1.2 Mbps download speed...

I'll update when I'm done...

Ok. So... I can't get the dang laptop to even boot from usb.. the bios is aptio setup. it has one option in the boot from list. some. smart boot utility or something. there is no quick boot option. no secure boot. no csm. none of those options even exist. I tried restoring to default. didn't change anything I could see. I removed the security keys? something. it reset the pc with that one. now I'm having trouble just getting back to the bios... it straight boots to windows. power button just puts it in hibernation I'm guessing. HOLDING the power button. the machine resets itself over and over. it doesn't shut down completely. when I let the button go, she screen looks Lmost like am old crt with a nice big magnet behind it. but after a.minute. it boots to windows. pushing and holding all the bios keys hasn't done anything in 5 reboots... esc. F1. F2. F9 and f12. nothing now. I haven't even seen the splash screen in any of these attempts with the hints to do so...

I'm going to keep trying, but I think I'm just going to gsnk the drives at some point soon...

I'm doing a system restore first. Hoping this works...

and thank you guys for the help so far. And sorry for the ranting. It's been a hell of a week. I have spent days being cucked by ebay chat support. Questions being ignored. Lied to. And then straight from their typing mouths. "I'm not going to do that for you" all I wanted, was a transfer to a higher tech team that may have had better tools to help me..
And then etsy chat support. Not telling me the problem I was having wasnt happening.. so I tried their email support. Who didn't even read the question and gave a solution to something in a.completely unrelated area..

And now this. This laptop has all the information I have in trying to setup a small business with my niece. And the only solution offered after the keyboard shortcuts didn't work. Was a factory reset. The question about logging in as an administrator had been completely ignored by them. The supervisor tells me they can't give me that information. Because 'Unfortunately, we can't give you that information because you set your PC up for your safety and the information required is meant to be for your safety" ive been asking for a process... not credentials....

I'll end this rant. I'm sorry. I havent slept I. Over 40 hours at this point.. I'm tired. And cranky

I'm glad to hear that System Restore worked. Back in the days when I tried using it I would say that for me it worked less than half the time I tried. If you have any external drive you can use I suggest you use a backup program to make backups you can use to restore from.
