how long should it take to do a scan with malware bytes, i7-8850 cpu and ssd nvme drive??

going for 25 minutes now.
I noticed computer speed has collapsed, it is super slow and laggy today.
malware bytes items scanned progress very slow.
Fans also never spin up fast .

What happened?

Just days ago it was great.

118,664 items scannned has taken 27 minutes

does it seem normal to you?

I ran burnin test program. it passed, but last time it sped up the fans to super fast, and today fans are spinning but extremely quiet

Today when typing or highlight text, it is super laggy, that is not normal

Laptop is painfully slow to use, c drive is small 500 gb

Kids did play games on the laptop last couple of days, things like Roblox and Fortnite. Worked fine then

I rebooted and went into bios f2 for the laptop 7530 and changed fan speed to high performance.
I reran malware bytes and it finished in 6 minutes! So something was super slowing down the laptop.
I then started using web, etc... and it is back to running decently
I have no idea what happened to slow it down so much earlier

And speedfan has no functionality, no fans show up

Still working fine this morning. So why the massive slowdown yesterday? There is never any explanation. When I had checked task manager yesterday, my cpu usage was in the mid teens, and plenty of memory.

It's very fast normally. Ever since that slowdown, the laptop has been fine back to it's speedy ways.

There is no benchmark for how long any tool will take. It just depends on the amount of data, the file count and what else (process wise) is competing for hardware resources.

I'm doing full scan with MalwareBytes it Finished in 39 minutes like said above the speed depends on files scan options and amount of files been scanned.
