Just curious, for the security gurus here that are very cautious on they do on their own personal machine, are you still running as a Standard Local Account?

I run on an Admin LOCAL account.
I also use Macrium Reflect backup software, religiously.

Been using Standard user with MS Account since it became a thing probably back in Windows 8 days when i first started the practice. System Admin account is only a local account, and used only for specific Admin tasks, and then otherwise not logged into it too much

My home computers are with a local admin account, but with UAC enabled.

On my work computer, I run as a standard local user with an elevated admin i can switch to.

Agreed 👍 on work computers ALWAYS run as a Standard account.

But for a home/personal machines and if you really know what not to install then running as a local Admin account should not be an issue.

But for managing machines in a business, then it's a must to have all users to be as a Standard account.

Lots of malware claimed to be able to infiltrate a logged-into Admin account & obtain Admin authority for itself unless UAC was at its highest setting.
It's a few years since I looked into this but it won't be any better now.
I assume that it's actually got worse because of MS's attempts to introduce Administrator Protection.

We've been waiting for this feature to be rolled out. But I assume MS is having serious problems with it.

Even if Administrator Protection was to be rolled out on all PCs tomorrow, I would not even enable it for at least a year as issues may still arise...
