How to chill six beers in ten minutes

Put the cans in a sink or handwash basin with the plug out. Cover the cans with ice cubes from the corner store, you don't need much.

That's it. As the ice melts the ice-cold water flows over the cans exchanging heat vwer efficiently.

A mix of ice and water is less effective for two reasons:-

1 it will never reach 0 degrees C or 32 degrees F
2 there is no flow or circulation.

Forced convection versus natural convection of course.

If you spin the cans as well, it would be have even faster cooling


Another (slightly less convenient) but really effective way is to immerse the cans in liquid nitrogen for a few second. Problem is if you leave it too long, you have beer ice lollies .

Wy wait 10 minutes? Put the cans in a bucket and empty the contents of a 1kg fire extinguisher over them at close range.
That solves the safe disposal of pressurized containers issue so it is a win-win solution. Much safer than chasing fellow workmates around while blasting them with defected fire extinguishers but equally rewarding
Using ice cubes made with heavily salted water is more effective as they freeze to a much lower temp. Great for keeping fish and beer cold and some interesting tastes to be had on first sip.
