I've always done it manually but a discussion in MSLearn says you can do it programmatically with PS
PowerShell Commands for PinnedItem Item to Taskbar - MSLearn

Seems a Cackhanded way of doing it
Just go to file location, right mouse click on the program whether EXCEL, OUTLOOK etc, select further options -->pin to taskbar. You can also send to desktop (create short cut) if you want those on the desktop too.

The OP is hoping to do it programatically.

yusop86,

I tried using the sample code but cannot get it to work.
I am used to working with PS to create shortcuts but I have always pinned them manually.
The InvokeVerb lines cause errors. If you expand the Comments section of the MSLearn link, you'll see that others could not get it to work either.
I now think that link was a waste of time and you'll have to search elsewhere for solutions.

Question -- Why do something programatically when you don't have to -- time is surely better spent on doing things programatically that aren't available by using the normal OS facilities -- why "Re-invent the wheel".
