I saw something that came across my phone about how to disable Microsoft edge from automatically starting, but I lost it. How can I do it?
Thanks

Maybe you're looking for this answer, how to prevent Edge from starting itself (silently in the background) every time you logon.
How to Enable or Disable Microsoft Edge Pre-launching at Startup in Windows 10

Edge does this trick so when you call it up, it magically appears without any delay. Edge's trying to fool you into thinking it's faster than all the other browsers out there.
The more things change the more they remain the same. I think it was even before XP some programs loaded a core into the tray and the main window of the program hidden. Not just browsers. It seemed like every program wanted to load something during login so that it would appear to snap up as soon as you ran it with very little HD activity. I guess they think enough time has gone by so that the younger generation will be unaware of this gimmick.

At least you are only wanting to do that. I have seen some people post wanting to totally remove Edge. That is not possible because Edge is integrated into Windows.

Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) > Start-up apps (symbol in LH margin) > right-click msedge.exe > Disable

Works until next major update when it's more than likely turned back on. Just repeat process every so often

Microsoft considers Edge the panacea of all ills - it can display images. it can read pdf files, it can perform miracles. If ya think they're gonna let users make their own decisions on how it's to be used .... MS's attitude : tell 'em they're dreamin'.

Worth checking Edge settings, system & performance, turn off pre loading and other 'fast loading' features. These settings are maintained across Edge updates but any Windows feature/ build updates might reset these to defaults, hasn't happened on my setup yet.
