How to do a COMPLETE uninstall of an application

Over the years, I've been bothered by the fact that when I do an uninstall of an application, there is ALWAYS residue left over in both the file system and the registry.
Has anyone ever encountered a utility smart enough to root out all remnants of an application that has been uninstalled?

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

Revo Pro takes the process a step further. Install the program from within Revo Pro. During the process it makes a record of all files and registry entries added/updated during the process. Then when an uninstall is performed from Revo all these are removed/restored.

Count me for another vote for Revo Pro.

If I do a clean install, the very first program I install is Revo. Next I remove Bitlocker. Then I install MiniTool Partition Wizard to create D. E. and F drives. Only then do I install all my programs and utilities.

As another Pro user, I agree with your reasons and would like to add that the Company behind Revo cannot reasonably be expected to work for "free". I am happy to pay for my software, just as we all have to pay for hardware.

Developers have to make a living as well.

Welcome to ElevenForum. Another vote for Revo Uninstaller. I have the Pro version for both of my computers. I use it for all of uninstallations, and it does an awesome job of finding the leftover remnants of a program in the registry and in the file system.

When you go into Revo's advanced registry cleaner, make sure you only pick the BOLD entries that show up. Those are the leftovers from the program you are deleting. I always pick the advanced button option to be thorough.

Do not delete any other un-bolded registry entries! ☝️

You can damage your system if you aren't careful with it. It happened to me a long time ago so I know. I learned the hard way.

It's my understanding that the only entries that will be deleted are the bold entries. The un-bolded entries are there only to show complete directory paths. Do other users have input on this?
