Solved How to pin this forum to the taskbar (Solved, With My Thanks For That)

Yesterday I had eleven items pin to the taskbar (name thereof forgotten,) including this site today, there are only nine such items, this forum being one of the two missing. It has been a long time since I last added such items, and while I don't recall how I did so, am rather sure that whatever it was it is no longer the way to accomplish the task. There are,of course, instructions on-line, none of which has helped. For example, I am instructed to press the Start button, which I would do were such a button be found, which is not as far as I can determine.

Would some kind person on this forum kindly tell me how to do this.

If you are using Firefox (your profile says you do), you could make a copy of the shortcut to Firefox on your desktop and change the link in it like this one for logging in to Gmail:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox

Then you do right mouseclick / pin to taskbar on that shortcut.
You could even attach another icon to the shortcut.

For Elevenforum the complete link would be:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" https://www.elevenforum.com

In Google Chrome (this is using the latest version of Google Chrome Canary)

1. Open Google Chrome and navigate to the website you want to pin.
2. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the browser window.
3. Select Cast, save, share > Create shortcut.
4. In the Create Shortcut dialog box, select the Open as a window checkbox if you want the website to open in a new window when you click the shortcut.
5. Click Create Shortcut.
6. A shortcut to the website will be created on your desktop.
7. Right-click the shortcut and select Pin to taskbar.
8. Delete shortcut from the Desktop.

Thanks for the translations! I had seen some instructions on-line about doing this, but the instructions were rather opaque as I do not read their language.

I wonder if this will even work for the MozillaZine forums, which don't seem to even have an icon. I had something for the site for quite a while, which disappeared one day, and a search for the icon turned up nothing. I don't even know what the "something" was, nor from whence it appeared.

Again. the clean and explicit replies to my forlorn plea for assistance is greatly appreciated.

The link I posted I use it myself for (Firefox) GMail, the other link is a logical consequence of that.
I myself am Dutch but things I write here I mainly do direct in English.

Hardly relevant, but that you are Dutch brought back memories: As a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Fire Instructors, it was my pleasure for several years to be the host for the Fire Chief of the Port of Rotterdam at our yearly Fire Department Instructors Conference.

I finally followed your instructions, but when I pinned this forum to the taskbar, I don't see it. Perhaps "taskbar" is not what I meant, which is the bar directly above the top bar of this forum, and which has icons for, example, Politico and DBTalk Community. What am I doing wrong? (Please limit your response to this single issue, lest you start compiling a very long list....)

Thanks, that is something I had never seen as far as I know, and will certainly be useful as I put one known icon back, and possibly a second. I say "second" as I don't know what I was using for MozillaZine forums. I only recall that it was a bit odd looking, but at least it worked then, so I shall attempt to restore whatever I can find for that site.

Generally, the taskbar in Windows is the bar on the lower edge of your screen. Although some people prdefer to have it on the left or right side edge or on the top edge of the screen.

The bar you are pointing to must be the tab bar or the bookmark bar of the browser you use. For which you have had a solution already in #9.

You are taking me too seriously, as I was merely suggesting that, were you to list all the things I do wrong, that would certainly be too long.
