How to remove Bitdefender System Tray Icon

I've decided to try out Bitdefender free. However, I'd also like keep the Windows Security Tray icon to access it...instead of the red Bitdefender icon. There is no option to turn it off in the app. I have tried disabling it in Windows startup apps as well as the toggle in Personaliation>Taskbard>Other System Tray icons. It still shows up at each Windows start. Is there another way to turn it off?

I'm on the paid version, and I don't see any way to nix the tray icon.
You might want to leave it there... it turns black if there's a problem that needs attention.


Check in Window's Settings...

By doing that, Bitfdefender wont run at startup. But if that’s what you want: You might want to check the Task Scheduler and see if it’s in there. Right click and disable.

If having difficulty, you could take a look in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Find Bitdefender Agent?
Backup the key
Delete the key
Reboot.

But disabling in Task Scheduler should be an option.

I tried turning off the Hidden icon menu as per the screenshot from @Ghot.

That hid all the icons in the system tray and Bitdefender Total Security is happily humming away in the background according to the Task Manager.

I just toggled my tray icon off and rebooted. It "moved" it to the hidden tray icons.

This is true.
With Bitdefender running... it sort of takes control from Microsoft Defender.
So anything you need to take care of, will show up in Bitdefender, anyway.
