How to remove "Managed by r organization"?

As you can see from the image, I have this message on the Edge and Edge beta's browser's Start, Home, new tab page section of Settings that browser is managed my organization. This is not a work computer; the only thing I have done is probably at some point logged into Outlook's work account (I use Gmail for personal). I also seem to recall maybe some sort of nag message about needing to log into a work account, not sure how old that was, so I may have done that.

Anyway - I see nothing on the Windows /settings/Accounts page but I am logged into my personal account. What should I do - do I need to log into Windows with my work email address and then it will show up to disconnect?

You can see what policies are in place by opening Edge and going to edge://policy/
These polices can be found (and deleted) in Regedit at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge

Just this week we had this conversation, a few of us were experiencing it.

For me, I found that it was the Edge registry tweaks in Winaero. But could also be reg tweaks for edge I had from elsewhere. After testing for an hour I found that Tweaks like Disable the Set Edge as the default browser prompts & Disable presonalisation of ads, news and browser Would make it appear.

Also, you can also see your policies by typing edge://policy into the address bar in Edge.

@Bree I checked that - suspicious that Startup Boost Enabled shows as false even though I have it turned on in the performance section. Is that a concern? You can see too, there were no policies at the Regedit location, screenshots attached.

@antspants I tried turning on all the personalization stuff, and restarted Windows, but no change either! I wonder where this is coming from?

If you don’t have any tweaks or registry changes that you have made for Edge, I am not sure.

Have a look from here on and see if it is of any help.

There are a few suggestions from here on that may be worth taking a look at.

@antspants I got rid of the "Managed..." message, it was close to where @Bree suggested - it was in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\Recommended.

Deleted the entry, restarted, turned Startup boost on and whether on or off, it still takes 6 seconds for the first screen to come up - no matter what it is.

I just updated to the latest Win beta that came out now, same thing. I think this is a Windows problem, as both Edge and Edge beta do it on this one computer (not another than I have!).

I'll keep investigating, if anyone has ideas please let me know!

It appears to be random as to who it affects.

For others, I don't know what the common factor is.

I don't use Edge more than once every few weeks probably so I am not worried.
For me as I mentioned, it is basically when any tweak is applied to Edge as follows:

Yeah, I tried changing any tweaks I had to settings (which weren't many - I uninstalled and reinstalled Edge Beta - I renamed (effectively deleted) Edge User data folder - I repaired it - nothing changes it.

On my other computer it is fine.

EDIT: Installed Chrome, and guess what - same thing - 6 second delay! Must be a windows issue. <sigh>
