How to update WinRAR , without changes in the contextmenus ??
Want to update my WinRAR to latest version , from 6.11 .
My contextmenu is fine in version 6.11 .......after updating to latest ( 6.24) its a mess , even my inkfiles have a right-click from WinRAR !
HOW (??) to update WinRAR and stay with the actual contextmenu from 6.11............
Tried several times , after updating WinRAR is everywhere in the right-click !!

All you need to do is update WinRAR.
Then open WinRAR and go to Options > Settings > Integration and make sure the Shell integration settings are to your liking.
Make sure you enable Cascaded context menus.

Not an answer to your post - but IMHO it's often .rar files that have nasty payloads in them - especially if downloading from well known torrent sites. I'd avoid any .rar file - usually there's .zip or other versions. To me .rar just says DANGEROUS -- BEWARE.

There is nothing more dangerous about .rar compared to any other file type.
That can easily apply to any type of archive or .exe. You need to be careful what you select and you need to check what their sources are.

It is your choice. Either program is good and will do the job.
7-zip has integrated shell menus as well, so you will need to set those up too.

I don't think so, both programs have many options available.
If you have both installed, you can compare them yourself.

You can always disable the features you don't want. You are NOT compelled to have every feature enabled.
You can disable the context menu completely if you wish.

Then do not associate WinRAR with ink files. Unless the ink files are archives, WinRAR should not care about them. If you have associated WinRAR with ink files then change the association.
Make them open with some other program.
In WinRAR settings, next to Shell integration , you will see the list of file types you can associate with WinRAR.
Disable the file types you don't want to open with WinRAR.

Wise because unlike winrar, 7-zip is open source and free, no restrictions.

Is it possible to safe the passwords you use to open files with 7-Zip ??
In WinRAR all passwords are saved , you only have to choose the right one , in 7-Zip you always have to fill in the password again............!
( btw , still no reason for installing WinRAR next to 7-Zip )

I don't use passwords on my archives but very likely there is no password save option.
And I think that's OK security wise, passwords if stored should be stored in single location ex. password manager.
Less programs know a password more secure it feels.
