HP AIO Scanner not working on WIndows 11

Hi Everybody,

I am using HP Deskjet AIO 2320 printer for a long time on windows 10 without any problem.

However I recently bought HP Laptop for my son which came with Windows 11 pre installed. I installed the HP AIO driver and after installation i checked whether the both printer & scanner and for the first time, both printer and scanner worked fine. Next day the printer was working fine and scanner didnt work at all giving error message "HP DJ 2300 series was not found" (see atatch image) even thought AIO is attached and Power on.

So I went to HP website using google search to download new drivers for windows 11 and HP Website directed me to Microsoft Store, from where I downloaded new drivers for Windows11.

The new driver again worked fine with the scanner for the first time only and again gave same error message that "HP DJ 2300 series was not found" even thought AIO is attached and Power on while i can print documents without any changes to AIO at the same time.

It looks like Windows Update is messing with your scanner's drivers. Download the Windows Update Show/Hide Tool and load it. Before proceeding install the official HP software again. Then use the Tool to find all available Windows Updates. Check the box to hide (block) any HP updates.

Check in Device Manager and see if it's using the driver you downloaded.

Probably not, Windows Update should have replaced with a newer but not so compatible driver, hence the issues. Also some OEM software do a hardware check in order to operate only on specific manufacturer's models. They don't work if any other model or different manufacturer model is detected. The check is done by checking for specific driver files and driver versions. If these are replaced by Windows Update they cannot verify you are using the appropriate model and don't work. This explains your error message. If you use the same drivers with an independent third-party scanning application it might work without complain, but the point is to use the official HP software. Install the official software and use the Tool to block any HP driver updates.

how do i check in device manager, it only shows HP Smart printing. see attach image

The scanner is not installed, only the printer. The scanner is usually at the Imaging Devices section and I don't see any such section in your screenshot. Try uninstalling all HP software and restart before reinstalling the official HP software.

I would not use the HP Smart App, I would go to the Installation Software section and download the FULL driver/software. This installs the printer and the scanner drivers. If you don't need the rest applications do a custom installation and uncheck their boxes.

well the scanner is not showing in windows 10 device manager also. do i need to attach it to see it in device manager

Vuescan will work if the scanner can be detected by Windows. If it cannot be detected due to wrong HP drivers or whatever, it will reply there is no scanner detected. Make sure you try before you buy it. It doesn't support all models.
