Windows 11
One of my backup PC's is an hp Elitedesk 705 G1 SFF. It is the backup PC for the data system for some of my test instrumentation. OS is Win 11 Pro 24H2 and OS Build is 26100 7309. Main use of this PC is a Firefox window on one of the cameras in the Virtual Railfan network. Even though PC has 32 GB RAM it is very slow and the mouse pointer disappears if I try to get it the same size as the PCs on each side of it. Display is run-of-the mill Samsun monitor 1920 x 1080 8-bit. Is there anything that can be done to make this PC respond faster? Thank you, John

Try a Clean Boot. If this works, You can Keep It This Way.
Or if you want to know you can add one or more Services or Startup Items at a time until the behavior returns.
Then you will know the culprit.

You should also download DiskGenius and or Crystal Disk Info both in my signature and view the SMART Info for the disk. If it is any less than GOOD, it needs to be replaced.

best solution is to add NVMe Boot Support to an HP EliteDesk G1.

hp Elitedesk G1 SFF is an old one. best OS is Windows 7. When running Windows 11, it's slow. I was running HP EliteDesk 800 G1 (a similar Intel CPU model) and run into same problem.

Hence I did "upgrade", adding NVMe Boot Support to an HP EliteDesk G1. then it's running well on W11 OS (performance similar to G3/G4 in my test).

Thank you siliconbeaver. Do you have a reference that would lead me though adding NVMe Boot Support to an HP EliteDesk G1?

Is it necessary?
