Windows 11 Pro Build by Timlab55
I did a fresh install of windows 11 Pro this afternoon thinking I knew where everything was at. I was wrong in many ways, so I guess I'm starting off as a newbie. Now on the task bar (in the past) there was a ">". Some icons would be inside of a box. I could open that up and see them, click on one and bingo I was working. But since this new install, I have no clue where my ">" is. I don't even know what's it called. Can someone give me some assistances please?

What you're showing is the greater than icon/sign. You should see a little icon that looks like the greater than but it's pointing up instead. Click on that if you can see it.

In that same group of icons is a tiny little cloud (OneDrive), a wifi icon, and a sound icon plus the date and time. At the very end is a notification icon.

Right-click on (blank/empty area of) Taskbar > Taskbar Settings > Other system tray icons > un/slide the icons you want shewn/hidden

Right-click on (blank/empty area of) Taskbar > Taskbar Settings > Taskbar behaviours > un/tick your preferences

EDIT It could also be that for a new installation, insufficient Sytray icons exist to cause an overflow... at the moment, what you see is all that you have (until more installations create more Systray icons to cause an overflow >=> thence the caret symbol is shown

Any one of them will probably be good for you. In fact, we Senior Citizens use Windows 11 for Dummies by Andy Rathbone in our class. I am now teaching a remedial Windows 11 class from this book; for those few who don't learn as quickly as others.

But now I have (I think) another problem. When I open my C drive, this is what I see (see attached). Drive Info.png
Shouldn't I have a ton of other directories in here as well?

Some old programs used to extract data to C drive, creating directories, it could be that.
Some still do like Nvidia installer.
