OS
Windows 11 Pro (Dev Insider Preview)
I am having too may crashes among other system issues with the "active" development build under the Dev channel an oviously for me to go to the build Beta is on, I would need to go to the Beta channel. However, as many of you are aware, it is difficult to go to a channel where the build is older/under than the one you are on. The option for Beta and Release are greyed out. So my question is, how can I either 1. change to the Beta channel, or 2. get a previous version of Windows 11 onto my machine? Thank you for any assistance anyone can provide.

Basically, you cannot leave the Dev Channel for at least 6 months, and your best option is to reinstall from W11 from scratch when released in a few days.

Do you have a Windows 10 image to restore to?

By the way, I was getting crashes soon after installing Windows 11, and I fixed most of them with driver updates.
But you'll have to get them manually or use a driver update tool and be selective what you choose to update.
Is it your Dell Inspiron 7506 2n1 Laptop?

If you have a backup image before you upgraded you can use that to roll back.

I checked drivers and updated several that have needing to be for a while now so drivers are not the issue here. I have done find with Win 11 ever since June when we started testing it with a couple exceptions. But since this last update, nothing but issues TBH.

And no, no Windows 10 image, aside from factory resetting my machine which would put Windows 10 back on my machine.

Did you ensure you have the latest drive controller driver?
That's an obvious one to start with.

Snappy Driver Updater or IObit Driver Booster would simplify it for you.

Your manual states that it supports Windows 11, so you may even want to check the Dell site for drivers.
I'm not a fan of factory resets. Especially on laptops. Back to square one with all the crap.

Yeah I was afraid of that. Since my computer constantly backs up (every 2 hours), two weeks worth of backups itself is a while lot of space. LOL

And has it updated all the drivers already?
I run this every other day brother. Most of the time I have it update what it asks me to but occasionally I hold off on a driver if I know it will take a bit of time. But yes when I ran it today all of the drivers were updated.

OK. I only ever selectively choose driver updates. Some can introduce problems, although IOBit is fairly reliable.
I still say it'll be a driver problem. Do you get a BSOD screen with the error?

If you only have two choices between a factory reset and finding the problem, I would persist a bit longer. But that's your call.

Not typically. Although it has happened once or twice. Typically everything is running well and then it is almost like it completely freezes and boom, it is an auto restart... out of nowhere and without any type of warning. It's weird!

What is further down that list on your Disk Drive(s)?
Was it crashing immediately after you upgraded to Windows 11?

Off-topic question for ya though.... how do you decide which drivers to update and which not to? I mean I understand for specific drivers but overall, how do you make that decision. I am not familiar enough with every driver on my system and even what each of them does, so I am curious.

I don't put all my faith in a software program to deliver the best driver.
Look at the dates, but more importantly, the driver vendor and take a look at the versioning sequence to see if it matches your existing driver.

For example. IOBit Driver Updater was showing an Intel driver update for a SATA Controller driver, but the versioning sequence was wrong and it stated the vendor was Synaptics. So I put that in the "Ignore" list.

How old is that Laptop?
Those driver dates look odd.
Can you go into history of IOBit Driver Updater and see if it updated any of them?

How old is that Laptop?
Those driver dates look odd.
Can you go into history of IOBit Driver Updater and see if it updated any of them?
This is my Dell AIO and I just got it a couple weeks ago brand new LOL

I'd be restoring those drivers back.
Go into history and start restoring some of those drivers back.
Maybe do it bit by bit. You should have some idea when your trouble started.
If I was going to make a guess, I would be thinking it would be more like a Disk Drive controller driver.
