Please bear with me as this is my first time posting on this forum! Nonetheless, I’d like to learn the most extreme ways to make my windows laptop as efficient as possible while on battery, then when plugged in-make it run on full power (even overclock or overpowered). This is a somewhat vague request. What is your objective here? You want it to last for x hours, what type of work are you doing on the device? What have you researched on your own? What device do you have and with what specs?

Also you could simply invest in a power bank and get extended battery life that way.

I just saw your post over there. Nicely done. They are a group of retired engineers who live to learn about W11 and they love to answer all kinds of questions as long as you first search for an answer on their site. Not doing so faffs them off and they'll tell you so. Have fun.

Asus' name ROG stands for Republic of Gamers. The Zephyrus series are top end gaming machines.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

Excuse me for that,
Met me try to make clear goals. When on battery power I want to conserve as much power and use as little resources as possible. When on ac power, I want to “open the flood gates” so to speak. If that helps anymore?

In the first case everything is generally optimized as it is, in the second case it is very problematic for a laptop.

If it's a gaming laptop and has dual GPUs, you can look at disabling the NVIDIA/AMD GPU and use the less power hungry Intel GPU. Setting your power plans will have a lot of good defaults for extending the battery. I also recommend dimming the display to the lowest you can tolerate as it is a huge power draw on the system.

Setting your power plans will have a lot of good defaults for extending the battery. I also recommend dimming the display to the lowest you can tolerate as it is a huge power draw on the system.
Yes! i'm manipulating/configuring the software to make sure that the laptop is using the APU instead of the GPU when on battery, i was thinking if there are any specific setting or anything i can do when it specifically comes to windows 11
