Installation caused loss of ability to boot from CD drive

Previous to Win11 install, changed boot drive from Legacy to UEFI mode. Installed Win11 22H2 today. Boot sequence skips CD drive totally, always booting to Win11 successfully & without incident. My Asus Prime P590 motherboard bios boot choice is solely "Windows Boot Manager" with no listing of CD drive whatsoever. Since Boot Manager seems to be a unalterable item, how do I add back my CD to boot sequence?

Put disc in dvd drive. Hold down f12 while restarting PC. This gives you a boot options list. Is your DVD one of the options in the list.
I'm assuming your install iso is on a dual layer dvd disc. A cd is too small.

I do not know of anyone who uses an optical disc for installation media anymore. USB flash drives are the only way to go these days.

Did you keep the f12 key held down through entire boot? You can also try pressing f12 as soon as logo appears on screen. The time frame you have to hit f12 that way is like a second so have you finger ready on the key.

I also have the same motherboard. The hotkey is F8 to select what device to boot from.

Best method seems to be to just keep tapping F8 rapidly until menu is displayed.

EDIT: Apologies, may not be exactly same MB, but should be same hotkey. Mine is the Prize Z590, you noted yours is the P590.

Thanks for the suggestion- F8 also applicable to my MB. I had tried the F8 hotkey several times BUT the CD drive is not on the listing. Only selection appearing is Windows Boot Manager. All functions of the CD drives (2) work once machine is booted, but still cannot boot to either.

In BIOS have you enabled CSM option for your DVD drive? Also you may have to disable secure boot temporarily when trying to boot from non UEFI compatible discs.

As noted by others, you might want to try a bootable flash drive. However, if you still prefer to create a bootable DVD, we can help you with that. What method did you use to create and burn the bootable DVD?

I need to have a bootable, functioning DVD drive when trouble arrives to run Acronis for access previously imaged backups. I use Nero for all burnings, including several flash drives and actual CD's as well. Thanks for your help and advice.

I was able to solve my current ghost DVDs not appearing in my BIOS by trial and error, then reinstalling Win11, then using Acronis to burn a perfect backup in its place.
