I'm looking at this offer here:

My main question is if there is an option to install only certain office apps, like all the old Office programs on Disk did. Check the applications you want, leave the others unchecked.

Now in the olden days when you got standalone software you got the installer package on a disk or in a ISO you could download and save to your PC. You could install the software from the package at any time, and there were options for installing it - where to install, what to install, etc.

My understanding is that here I would be buying a license only from Stack Exchange. I then need to log in to my Microsoft account to activate that license. Once activated I can then install Office directly from the Microsoft Store. There is no program installer package to download and save to my hard drive. Do I have that correct?

Also, this is a one license for one PC deal. If I build a new PC does that mean I need a new license? How about if I do a clean install of Windows 11?

I tried to find info or video on the installation process on the web but it seems every video is talking about the LTSC version. Installation for this version is not clear.

No; you get all the apps installed.

I'm not able to comment on the licensing issues.

The Setup installs all as a 'Click to Run' suite.
(Might be able to uninstall Teams separately but I haven't tried)
Sign in with your MS account to activate.

My main question is if there is an option to install only certain office apps, like all the old Office programs on Disk did. Check the applications you want, leave the others unchecked.
If you decide to buy this, the installer will install ALL of the apps associated with Office, however, AFTER install, you can go into Settings -> Apps and 'Modify' the install to remove the ones you don't want.

My understanding is that here I would be buying a license only from Stack Exchange. I then need to log in to my Microsoft account to activate that license. Once activated I can then install Office directly from the Microsoft Store. There is no program installer package to download and save to my hard drive. Do I have that correct?
If you purchase this, Stack Exchange will send you a product key. You then visit Setup Office or Microsoft 365 and log into your Microsoft account and use the key to authorize you to install it, you install from that site and NOT the Windows Store.

Do you know if Office 2019 comes as traditional standalone software, or is it 'Click to Run' also?

Everything after 2016 I think is now "Click to Run" but in each case, as I stated above, you can install the entire thing and then remove what you don't want after

Thanks.
The issue I have with a lot of this kind of thing is that you can remove the program but it's not really gone. It's lurking in the shadows or in the case of Skype for Business it's taking over your camera settings without asking. Sure you can do the chore to go in and manually remove everything - but its a yet another chore.

Modern software is seldom 'set it and forget it'. It's constantly asking for your attention to update or look at something new. It's like a whiny, needy child.

They may have changed it, I know it worked like a year ago when I installed it cause I removed Access.

--Edit--
I just checked, the "Modify" and "Remove" are both still there, however when you click "Modify" now, it asks if you want to "Quick Repair" or "Online Repair" and does NOT allow you to uninstall the unwanted apps in the package. I'm sorry for the misleading information.

When we purchased MS Office is from a 3rd party (in our case, SoftwareKeep) and downloaded from Microsoft (in our case, Sign in to your account) the key becomes associated with your motherboard. If you do a clean install, things should be OK, but if you replace the motherboard, or try to install Office on another PC, Microsoft will flag the key as already having been used, and you'll then need to call them and jump through a few hoops.

Also, you, don't merely uninstall Office from Settings, as that won't free the key. Instead, use the Microsoft Uninstaller: https://aka.ms/SaRA-officeUninstallFromPC

Hope this helps.

Do you know if Office 2019 comes as traditional standalone software, or is it 'Click to Run' also?
Hi,
2019 requires a microsoft account so different than standalone software that does not which last version is 2016 that doesn't require ms account for activation.
This is why I got a couple copies of office 2016 pro plus a while back

They seem to be gone now only 2016 home and business left and only for mac to.
TPU does post these deals monthly/ holidays.

I recently stumbled upon a helpful video tutorial
Is it your tutorial? The rest of your post seems to be marketing hype for it.

Here is the deployment tool I use to install just certain Office 2019-2021 Applications...
It creates an Office Setup Configuration file - that is used during installation

im still running 2019 Pro. You can definitely use a product key for activation and are not required to sign into your Microsoft account.... not sure why other might have had to, but I don't

haven't touched 2021 though, as there are really no significant enough changes from 2019 to make it worth my money

I would like to clarify something. When people here are talking about Office Pro 2019 or Office Pro 2021 they are really talking about Office Pro Plus 2019 or Office Pro Plus 2021. Their is a difference. Note if you follow the link in Post #1 for Office Pro 2021 and read what is on the web page at the end they actually specify that they are selling Office Pro Plus 2021.

I have both Office Pro Plus 2019 and Office Pro Plus 2021. There is a different way to download each one.

Get Office Pro Plus 2019 after buying product key
  1. Open link: Setup Office or Microsoft 365
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account
  3. Enter your product key
  4. Download install program for Office
  5. When done log off

Get Office Pro Plus 2021 after buying product key
  1. Open link: Setup Office or Microsoft 365
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account
  3. Enter your product key
  4. Office 2021 is added to your Microsoft account
  5. Log off
  6. Open link: https://account.microsoft.com/
  7. Sign into your Microsoft account
  8. Select Services & subscriptions
  9. Locate Office 2021 purchase
  10. Click on install button to download install program for Office
  11. When done log off
Note only Office 2021 is added to your Microsoft account. You can log into your Microsoft account anytime to download it. For Office 2019 you have to go to the indicated website and enter the product key every time you want to download it.
