Intel 4405u cpu, any way to make this useable for windows 11?


If you are willing to experience the incompatibilities and difficulties of Linux and experiment with it, do it. Don't believe that modern Linux distros are as easy as Windows, close enough but not that easy, especially if you need to resort to the Terminal for a simple task. Also they are no match for software and hardware compatibility of Windows. Even Windows 7 is better than using Linux. If you are going to donate the machine consider installing Windows. The new owner will appreciate it. If you install Linux he most likely just format it and install Windows anyway, so do him a favor and install Windows in the first place.

Had Zorin on it already, and yes. it's much snappier with Zorin. The issue with it is it's just NOT 11. We missed how things work in win11 when on Zorin. We are deeply integrated in the MS verse, with OneDrive, 365, launcher, MS rewards, and software compatibility for my work, and my son's gaming.

It's how it is, I was hoping I could get away with making it snappier for her, but having to remove a bunch of stuff would negatively affect the overall use of the system.

Have you tried to disable visual effects, useless startup applications and non-Microsoft services? This should make a noticeable difference in performance, but don't expect miracles. That said, it should be faster than my Intel Core 2 Duo laptop running Windows 11 23H2 (1st system specs).

When I clean installed Windows 11 on my hybrid tablet/laptop Fujitsu Stylistic Q702 (4th Gen Core-i5, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD) I took the time to manually download any possible driver, even if most were automatically installed from Windows Update. I even switched to the Windows 7 64-bit section and downloaded some utilities "not necessary" for Windows 10/11 (yeah, right). I started by installing the Intel chipset driver since all other devices depend on the motherboard components. I then installed the graphics driver and then everything else, even those "not necessary". My laptop was much faster than after a fresh Windows 11 installation with Windows Update drivers. That's why I recommend to many threads to always prefer the official drivers and don't rely entirely on Windows Update. I know it takes much more time, but it's worth it.

I will try that this afternoon when I'm waiting for my wife to get home. 😁 I already only use Intel drivers for all our devices and not the brand or ms created ones. And I thought I had most unnecessary stuff turned off so I will go check it all out.
