Hi All,

This has only started to happen in the last 2 days. The internet is incredibly slow and due to this it is almost unusable. Youtube is unable to play and it takes a few minutes to go to a webpage.

I restarted the modem and that did not fix the issue.

I did a restore of windows whilst keeping my personal data but it did not stop the issue.

I have reviewed the event viewer and this is what appears:

Name resolution for the name ep1.adtrafficquality.google timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Client PID 16816. DNS Client Events. Event ID1014
Name resolution for the name ittpx.eskimi.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Client PID 13052. DNS Client Events. Event ID1014
Name resolution for the name match.adsrvr.org timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Client PID 13052. DNS Client Events. Event ID1014
Name resolution for the name rr2---sn-hxa7zn7z.googlevideo.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Client PID 12184. DNS Client Events. Event ID1014

I am unsure what additional information is required to further diagnose the root cause?

Is anybody able to help?

What happens if you use a different computer on the same network?

Untill someone smarter than me has a suggestion try running the command ipconfig /flushdns in a Command Prompt with Admin privileges.

Is it the same with a different browser?
Did you try browser troubleshooting/safe mode?

Hi john1955,

I have attempted to download Chrome but it is unable to download.

I have manually changed the DNS server to Google (8.8.8.8).

No change unfortunately.

Based on your description, the Event ID 1014 (DNS Client Events) indicates that Windows attempted to resolve a domain name but didn't receive a timely response from any configured DNS servers. This often points to DNS resolution problems rather than a hardware failure.
Try different DNS servers.

Get Started | Public DNS | Google for Developers
If different DNS servers won't help resolved the problem reset TCP/IP protocol using the attached batch script.

I can't think of anything else since you already did a Windows restore

Is anything hogging the network looking at Resource Monitor?

Hi,

I have changed the DNS server both within Windows and the Modem to the Google ones. The issue is still there.

There is nothing hogging resources - 1% CPU usage, disk usage is 2% at highest, 0% network utilisation and 26% used memory.
I am unable to download chrome and very slow to access a speedtest - still waiting.

Eventviewer now shows

8 of The server {2B969405-02ED-533A-BA99-8636AC9232DC} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. DistributedCOM Event ID 10010

A new item added:
The backing-file for the real-time session "WDC.BE95A9B1-DE15-4B78-B923-A12AB70BE951" has reached its maximum size. As a result, new events will not be logged to this session until space becomes available. This error is often caused by starting a trace session in real-time mode without having any real-time consumers. Kernal-EventTracing. Event ID 1.

As an FYI - using the work laptop, just completed a teams meeting with 6 people and no issues with the internet.

Thanks for the help so far.

Hi Freebooter,

Apologies. I did change the DNS servers as per the instructions. Tried Google ones and Cloudfare. I also ran the batch file.

No improvement.

Is there any additional information you need?

Try resetting router to factory default setting, restarting won't help much.

Try cable connection.

Update network card driver.

Scan for malware infections.

If nothing works i say it's ISP network problem, contact the ISP support.

If other devices are connecting OK to your network, I would set the ipv4 network connection settings back to default of "obtain DNS server address automatically" before further troubleshooting steps are taken.

Be sure to try Freebooter's bat file. Run it as admin.
Restart your device.

Other Things to try.
Powercycle your router and restart device.
Run network troubleshooter. Settings>System>troubleshoot>other troubleshooters>Network & Internet>-RUN
Reset network adapters Reset Network Adapters in Windows 11 Tutorial

But you are able to get to some web pages but it takes for ever ? ? ?

When you ran the script to reset the network did you have to re enter your password to connect to the wifi?

I was going to suggest reset the network but I thought that's what that script that FreeBooter posted was for.
I would do it the manual way
  • Go to Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings.
  • Click Network reset and then Reset now.
Also . . . I always check if anything was installed around the time strange things start happening including windows updates

I forgot to ask if you can get email but maybe you use a web based system. But if you have an email client does it work normally?

Hi Freebooter and glasskuter,

I will try that actions and advise.

@john1955 - Yes, I can access webpages just incredibly slow. Downloading anything is challenging. For example, tried to download Chrome and it was going to take over an hour. With the reset, have to download all programs and at this speed will take forever. When I ran the batch script, I did not need to log in to the wifi for the work laptop - it just connected. The desktop is connected via ethernet cable.

Appreciate the help.
