Irritating WiFi instability

I have problems with WiFi on an Acer Aspire A515-43 with Windows 11. Now and then, the WiFi connection starts behaving strange. It goes down and recovers shortly after some to some tens of seconds just to go down again. The disturbance continues for 2–6 minutes and disappears. It happens at seemingly random intervals, and I cannot associate it with any activity on the system. It may happen while the PC stays unused. I have a background app that pings the router every 3 seconds to keep WiFi busy.

I downloaded the WiFi driver from the Acer homepage, but it has the same version as the one I'm using, so it wouldn't install. The PC is several years old, but the WiFi problem started some weeks ago. I had reinstalled Windows, and I think it started afterwards. But the initial Windows 11 was upgraded from Windows 10; it wasn't the OEM's installation.

I have other devices on the same WiFi network, in particular a streaming TV, and they show no disturbances.

What more can I check on the system?

Since I've developed the app to activate and monitor WiFi, I could add more checks, e.g., the CPU temperature and other health indices. Where can I find the Win32 API for such functions?

Is this related to the similar issue you posted on 9th September 2023? It doesn't show if you resolved that so may be related.

On my wife's AcerSwift, she had a similar problem. I opened the case and reseated the wifi card. This fixed it.

It's very easy to remove the back of the laptop. There is no need to disconnect the antenna from the wifi card. All you do is remove one screw, pull the card out from its connector and put it back. This should wipe any dirt or oxidation from the contacts.

@wiganken: This issue is not related to my thread dated September 9, 2023, and it is not similar. The Acer PC causing problems does not sleep. I use it to monitor an internet site, and it never sleeps unless I put it to sleep myself. But the monitoring suffers from intermittent Wi-Fi problems. The September thread is marked as resolved, isn't it?

Does your Wireless Router provide 2G and/or 5G speed and which does your computer use to connect?
One of mine, same Router but the -2G doesn't show:

For someone who adds all that info about bits and bytes to his signature, it amuses me that you confuse 2G and 5G with 2.4GHz and 5GHz! :D

@Berton: It is a Technicolor router, and I use it for 5GHz WiFi only. I have another, stronger router for 2.4GHz. 5GHz WiFi is much faster, so I use 2.4 only for devices that don't support 5GHz. Probably, I might configure the PC to switch to 2.4 GHz when 5GHz goes down, but if it is a PC WiFi problem, switching the network will not solve it.

@kelper: Thank you. This approach requires some determination. I'll try it when everything else fails.

Make sure you wifi 2.5 and 5. does not broadcast on the same channels. Also check wich channels your neighbors wifi's is using.
If all devices are on the same channel, and some download on full speed on those channels your wifi speed might drop duo to interferance from those devices. You can download on you phone like a wifi analyser, and see how many of those devices are on those channels, and then change your channel to something that is not used near you.

@kelper @Tester Exactly. I have several devices on this network, but only the Acer PC has problems. I did use a WiFi analyzer to select the channel with the least load.
