Hi, is it me or is Windows 11 still not restoring folders correctly at reboot?

Issue steps:
I start Windows 11
I open some folders
I then restart windows

Result:
No folders I previously opened are restored after restart or shutdown.

Can anyone help please?

Is this what you'r trying to do:

If yes, the question is: did you do that, but it does not function?
Or did you just search for this option?

Thanks, absolutely yes I did do the above doing option 1 for years.

Turn On or Off "Restore previous folder windows at logon" in Folder Options

Windows 10 appeared more solid in regard to this feature.

It is definitely not just you. I've had this issue on my personal computer for a long time. My work computer was finally upgraded to Win 11, and now I have it there too. All of my research has been in vain, except to discover that it seems to be related to the new version of File Explorer with tabs. There are work arounds, using third-party software, to remove tabs in File Explorer. I haven't tried that to see if it works. This is VERY frustrating to me. I work on multiple things all the time, and rely on those folders re-opening so I don't forget what I was doing. I've been doing that for many years. I haven't found any kind of decent "automatic" replacement. 😕

Working fine in Win11 , only my external HDDs ( for backups , software, music, etc.) dont remember the folder-settings , each time after reboot..........

I think this may have been fixed, I did 2 restarts without losing the folder setups.

Maybe odd, but out of interest;
Open the Settings app and navigate to Accounts in the left-hand navigation bar. Click the Sign-in options item under the Account settings section. Toggle on Automatically save my restartable apps and restart them when I sign back in to enable.
I realise Explorer isn’t an app but you have nothing to lose by testing?
