[Issue] Windows 11 Account Reauthentication PIN pop-up whenever I switch user accounts

I use two different Windows online (MSFT) accounts on my system for different work purposes, and both are MSFT accounts because I have to use OneDrive & Office packages (Word, Excel, etc) tied to them

Recently, when switching (Sign-out) from my account to the other account (Sign-in), then switching (Sign-out) from the other account to my account (Sign-in)
Always getting the reauthentication PIN prompt like this


Tried find out & disabled all reauthentication-related Windows settings/options, i.e.


1. Apps > Advanced App Settings: [See above Screenshot]

• “Archive apps” = Off
• “Share across devices” = Off

2. Accounts > Sign-in options > Additional Settings:

• “For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended)” = Off

3. Privact & Security> App Permission > Account Info:

• “Let apps access my account info” = Off

Earlier, before a month or two, even with all those above-mentioned Windows settings options enabled
I rarely faced such a reauthentication pin prompt, i.e. once in a couple of months

But now, since April/May 2025, it's become a consistent issue whenever I switch user accounts, so posting it here for help.
Really appreciate if anyone could help to solve this issue, TIA.

Just a note, I've seen times with 2 or more Users on a computer and after Signing out it can be necessary to reboot to get the Users n the Sign-in screen so as to make a choice of which to load, otherwise a simple reboot just went back to the same User.

yes, when rebooting & signing in, no issue, but if I sign out from other account & sign back in to my primary account, only then this issue exist.

Like I said earlier, this issue was persistent earlier, noticed it once within a couple of months,
but now, during the last two months, it has become a persistent issue.

As you said, "I've seen...", so asking
are you facing this issue personally, or have seen it for any other system?

I've always assumed [yeah, I know the meaning of that] that a User is still held in memory when changing to another without the reboot that clears the memory, does making switching Users quicker.

not really the same thing, but our workplace recently got some new win11 laptops (surface go)... it asks people to setup hello with fingerprint and pin...
works fine when you are the only user on the laptop, but the hello login with fingerprint or pin craps out when switching users. or maybe even on 1st boot after proper shutdown (shift shutdown) sometimes.

when reported to it, they just said user user id and pw instead in multi user environments... wtf.

I've been using Windows Hello PIN setup since the Windows 10 days, and for the first time, this issue has become persistent over the last 1-2 months.
Earlier, it was fine, hardly seen this once or twice in 3-6 months, which is pretty standard considering the time gap in between.

If I've to presume, probably Windows has changed something lately in its security/authentication level via LCU, hence facing this issue nowdays.
