That's their firewall. Their malware / antivirus component is now called Microsoft Defender Antivirus.

From what I understand, at least in the USA, Kaspersky and resellers are being prohibited from selling the product. Users are not being asked to stop using the product. I am against the ban personally. I am in South America.

Just use Defender. I do admire people who take the bold decision to allow Russian & Chinese software access to critical aspects of their OS.

How come no one has mentioned 'Norton 360 Premium'?

It's only £20 one-off cost for 10-devices for 2-years protection and IMO it is brilliant. The last time I checked it was getting very good reviews and not just from one source, which could have been biased.

There has never been any solid proof that Kaspersky spies, at least none that I have seen, and until any surfaces,( all you have are The Biden Regime's allegations), I will continue to use the product. By the way, many people are biased towards American products. I disagree with them also, as there is no evidence of them having done anything deliberate either.

The US government forced laser printer manufacturers to print the machine's serial number in invisible ink on the back of every printed page. If someone printed classified info, the page could be traced back to the person who bought the printer. Who knows in what other ways the US has back doors in its technology?

I find that a bit suspicious --for example what happens if you do double sided printing.
In any case if one was "Stealing" classified material then I doubt whether printing it would be an effective way of obtaining it and removing to where the stealer intends the stuff to go.

In any case my experience with govt officials from various countries in the world is that they aren't usually the brightest of individuals so I doubt that they would have either the legistlative "Nouse" to enforce that and far less likely to have resources to check that the hardware has been so modified.

That would only be possible for printers that can print double sided.
Any laser printer that only can print single sided will not be able to do that.

But I know that with color laser printers already a long time there are printed marks that belong to the printer's properties in a way they are not visible. That has been at least since 2008, because my color laser printer is from that year and I know already in that time I read about it.

That's why I mostly only print in grey tones!
(Not true: it's just to safe toner.

)

If you use double side printing, the dots would be on both sides. But only visible in UV light.

Anyway: makes no difference, color printers leave tracking codes.
But I doubt normal users will have to bother about that. It would only be to track crimes, for instance blackmail letters. But criminals who know this will use printers that only print in black, I think...

And I doubt if (worldwide) there would exist a central register of all printers that have been sold. Would be against privacy rules in the different countries. But it could very well be used to compare one 'letter' to another. As they did with the early mechanical typewriters, where every machine had it's typical wear of characters.

I would say, it's a bold decision for anyone to use US made security software.

Last time I used Norton Internet Security (approx 2006), it was almost worse than catching a virus, my Task manager showed constant 85%+ cpu usage.

That's when I switched to Kaspersky, and then read reports of backdoors for various "agencies", with TLAs, in US made security software, like Norton & McAfee.

Meanwhile, Kaspersky works, almost invisibly in the background.

BitDefender and Sophos have always been on the radar, heck, I even got offered a role as a C' Software Developer at Sophos !!
