I still have issues that I can extremely easily reproduce on every single system running 11, so I guess it's likely they simply won't get addressed before initial public release.

Needless to say I'm never going the upgrade route again - It's better to clean install (all apps) and copy user folders from a mounted Macrium backup.. IMHO.

Just an update... I exited Wi-Fi, opened Firewall , disabled AV and the upgrade went through OK.. not sure which of those stalled it last time.

Installed .194 Beta ISO over 22463 Dev CH and got to say, the performance of 194 is superior.

I did get install on RP and everything is great. Went from windows 10 to 11 without a hitch! All programs are intact.

1) First issue: NOTE - You must do this before you have ever clicked on anything within Start during your current session. My suggestion is to logoff, then logon and immediately do these steps:

Open File Explorer
Left-click in the search box first. Then right-click in the search box.

NOTE: If you right-click first, you will get a context menu with Move / Size / Minimize / Maximize / Close options. That IS NOT the context menu I am talking about. Make sure to left-click, then right-click.

A context menu with options available will be displayed.
This part is a little tricky to explain because the behavior varies a little bit from time to time so bear with me.

Move the mouse pointer over the context menu but don't click on anything. If operating normally, the items in the context menu will highlight as the pointer is moved over them. You will know that the you have encountered the problem when the highlighting does not happen. More on how to trigger this in a moment. Once the problem is encountered, you will note that clicking anything in the context menu has no effect. In addition, clicking anywhere else in File Explorer has no effect. However, the items in File Explorer will update if events would normally cause the screen to refresh. However, File Explorer is effectively locked to access by the user. To work around this issue, I have noticed that you can press ALT-TAB or WinKey-TAB and come back to File Explorer, click something in the context menu, and now File Explorer will be active again. Also, if you do nothing, File Explorer usually becomes accessible again in a few minutes.

Ok, more on how to trigger problem. If the highlights show in the context menu when pointer is moved over it, don't click in that context menu. Move the mouse pointer to the box to the left of the search box (where the path would be shown). Click in it. Come back to the search box. Left-click in it. Check to see if the context menu, which should still be open, highlights as pointer is moved over it. If still active, repeat the process.

Update - Easier way to repro item #2 I described in File Explorer.

Once you move mouse pointer over the context menu, if items are highlighting as they should, simply move pointer off the context menu and come back. Most likely, it is now locked.

Confirmed, context menu is locked until you close File Explorer. Not something I'd have noticed as I tend to remember where things are so very rarely use search.

Ok.. part one of my testing

I tried this and didn’t have any issues. When I go to use the power button via this method I just have to press it one time to get it to work

I used the ISO and did an in place repair , then went to the RP and got The CU to make it 22000.194. I guess the ISO was not as MS had said at 22000.194??

Context menu works fine for me.

Yes, I can confirm here first click on power button icon did nothing required a second click to bring up the choices. Did not have the problem with clicking on name.

Same here so far.. I have more testing to do today. But. I have some chores to get done first.

For the first problem with the double click, checked on both my Beta 194 PCs and just to complicate matters got different results!
This PC only requires 1 click after logon > start > power or name, tested both separately rebooting in between and did it twice so not affected.
Other PC is affected and requires 2 clicks.

As for this one.. I didn’t try to logout/login yet but so far I can click on the search bar does what it’s supposed to do. I’ll do this when I can.,. I’m downloading a big file ATM, I’ll reboot my rig and try the search out. That way I’ll know how it works.

I saw some news in the past few days that MS would now let you install it on machines that don't meet the hardware requirements if you agree to a warning. But when I tried to install this build from the ISO to a machine that didn't meet the processor (i7-6800K) or TPM (none) requirements , it would not let me proceed after it told me it wasn't compatible.

That really irks me. They are leaving a lot of us behind.

Honestly, I don't recall seeing MS making that claim. All I've seen is comments along this line on blogs, etc. I thought this over and I don't know how MS would be able to get your Sig to accept the risk of using 11. Edit: I did a fast google search on the subject and all I found was speculation.. might etc. Hardly a statement by MS. Oh and the original story came via The Verge.. not a great source for information, IMO.

Ok.. I rebooted my rig and tried the search and it just worked the way it was supposed to. It did flicker for a sec or so but that's the only issue I noticed. I'll go over the other items ASAP.. likely later on this afternoon.
