Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22000.702

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues in this update

Applies toSymptomWorkaround
IT adminsAfter installing this update, some .NET Framework 3.5 apps might have issues or might fail to open. Affected apps are using certain optional components in .NET Framework 3.5, such as Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow (WWF) components. You can mitigate this issue by re-enabling .NET Framework 3.5 and the Windows Communication Foundation in Windows Features. For instructions, please see Enable the .NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel. Advanced users or IT admins can do this programmatically using an elevated Command Prompt (run as administrator) and running the following commands:

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:netfx3 /all
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-HTTP-Activation
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-NonHTTP-Activation
All users
After installing this update, Windows devices might be unable use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. When attempting to use the hotspot feature, the host device might lose the connection to the internet after a client device connects.
To mitigate the issue and restore internet access on the host device, you can disable the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. For instructions, please see Use your Windows PC as a mobile hotspot.
IT adminsAfter installing this update on a Windows ARM-based device, you might be unable to sign in using Azure Active Directory (AAD). Apps and services that use Azure Active Directory to sign in might also be affected. Some scenarios that might be affected are VPN connections, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft OneDrive, and Microsoft Outlook.

Note This issue only affects Windows devices that use ARM processors.
To mitigate the issue, you can use the web versions of the affected apps, such as Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Outlook.com.

We are presently investigating and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

How to get this update

Before installing this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates and Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions.

Windows Update for BusinessYesNone. This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update in accordance with configured policies.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

SFC found errors
I did a pre-update-check and SFC found a file error that wasn't there before, with my Samsung 970 Pro 512 GB SSD and then I wiped that SSD and installed my new 1 TB PCIe gen-4 SSD. So, I didn't even update Windows 11 on that SSD and instead proceeded to go to the UEFI-BIOS and wipe it, then had the PC partially disassembled. I possibly have uncorrectable errors on my Samsung 970 Pro!

I keep getting "Install error - 0x800f0982" when trying to install this through Windows Update; the standalone installer fails as well. I've tried troubleshooting, as well as DISM and sfc/scannow and returning no errors. I got the .NET update as well, and that installed with no issue.

Maybe trying Reset Windows Update in Windows 11 Tutorial can help!
