Insider KB5015885 Windows 11 Insider Release Preview Build 22621.317 22H2 - July 28

  • Staff
UPDATE 8/9:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Build 22621.317 (KB5015885) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 22H2.

This update includes the following improvements:
  • We fixed an issue that prevents troubleshooters from opening.
  • We fixed an issue that might increase the latency of games when vertical sync (VSync or v-sync) is in use.
  • We fixed an issue that affects the ProjectionManager.StartProjectingAsync API and prevents certain locales from connecting to Miracast Sinks.
  • We fixed an issue that causes the Smart App Control to block catalog-signed files.
  • We fixed an issue that causes the Take a Test app to remove all policies related to lockdown enforcement when you close the app.
  • We fixed an issue that might highly distort photos you take using the Camera app. This issue occurs when using certain cameras under certain low light conditions.
  • We fixed an issue that throws an exception when you debug drivers using Visual Studio 2022 version 17.2 or later.
  • We fixed an issue that causes the Windows profile service to fail sporadically. The failure might occur when signing in. The error message is, “gpsvc service failed to sign in. Access denied”.
  • We fixed an issue that prevents virtualized App-V Office applications from opening or causes them to stop responding.
Thanks,
Windows Insider Program Team

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Well I was kind of expecting this to fail after the recent issues I've had, but this one worked. It was a nervous 5 minutes!

This is the first Release Preview build I have received since changing from Beta since the previous release 22621.232 22H2 on July 12 was not provided by Windows Update.

From searching this forum, it appears that the solution to this error might be using a UUP Dump. Is that correct or is there another option?

Note: My Build Version still displays as 22621.290/22H2

SFC scan took ages after, more than 20 minutes instead of the usual 3-4.

Update: I had to leave for work so stopped the scan at 90%. Ran it again, it took the normal time and showed no integrity violations 👍

DISM /scanhealth all ok too.

As of this version (for Enterprise in my case) there is a new version of Hello for business that is triggered. It doesn't run but is probably in testing stages. It gives events in viewer for Hello, LSA and event viewer error. If you try to disable Hello for business in Group policy and use nip, you will be asked to change nip to 6 characters and hello error will still be present. so, no step forward but rather backwards. 😳

I also still have this nagging issue with OneDrive that will break if I restore to release version and lose all access to my OneDrive files unless I shutdown OneDrive, delete all files, turn it back on and download all 357GB I have.

What a pain and a first for OneDrive.

Running 22621.317 RP on a laptop. I've just hit what was apparently a known issue that was fixed in the Dev build 25140, but the fix has yet to make its way into Release Preview.

The problem is with network drives on older servers that require SMB1 to connect. The OP here (who was on 22622.290 Beta) describes exactly what I'm seeing....

"I've just tried to copy some small JPGs PNGs and PDFs to the NAS and have received the error 0x80070026: reached the end of the file. When I copy larger files there is no issue."

When I copy larger files there is no issue."

wonder if that issue is fixed with 22621.450/22622.450 (KB5016700) (or not)?
