Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.378​

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

Must be me, I've always right-clicked the Start Button in Windows 10/11 to launch Task Manager. But, I'm not a great believer in the argument that "we've got to have it because we had it before". If that were the case we'd probably still be using Windows 3.11

I don't recall ever doing it any other way. It has been a long standing feature in every version of Windows that I currently have to hand.....

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

I was on the insider ring for like a year last year but I honestly dont need to deal with BSODs, Errors, glitches and the inevitable Complete Fresh install which I did about a dozen times. I dont want to be a guinnea pig just want my system to run smooth.
Question I have is since I havent seen the Update yet I keep reading it could be a hardware issue and I will recieve the update down the road due to that possibly?? IDK. I have a newer PC just built a year ago with decent specs. Anywho..
If I wanted to install this..

There is one final instruction missing. I thought at first it hadn't worked, but a Restart is required before it takes effect....

It's just a Cumulative Update and would be the exact same one had it shown up for you as an available update. I just finished looking at it on the Microsoft Update Catalog site and reading the details which indicate it replaces the two previous Cumulative Updates. If you've installed MSU files before, they either install, or don't if your system is not compatible. Yes, you double click it to launch the installer. Well I always make a backup, but it should just be a click and install. It will just update the OS and not affect your data files or settings. Same as a windows update, which basically installs the same cab.

I have skimmed through all 8 pages, 148 posts looking for a referance to "out of band" without success, will somebody enlighten me?

Two of my pc's which don't get used as much as my beta one have been at 22H2 and 22621.608 from just the other day. I switched both of them on and one went straight to 22621.675 and the other to 22621.674. Now, an hour later the lagging one is having KB5019509 to get 22621.675 also.

I think OOB was intended to mean "not through the normal update channel", in this case including an "optional" update.

In computer communications and protocols, it has a specific meaning of not in the normal band channel (for instance data), but a separate channel.

So my version of windows is 21H2 (OS Build 22000.1098)
Can I update to this one? or would trying to install this MSU file maybe mess something up for me?
Do I have to be on an earlier update to 22H2 or can I install this? I dont wanna botch my system.

EDIT: Nevermind I found out just now. Tried to install this MSU and it said Its not compatible with my windows version.
SAD Face..oh well guess I wait for a actual update to show on my pc.

Microsoft have a planned set of regular monthly updates, the most important of which is on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (aka Patch Tuesday). This is the 'B release' and is the only one to contain new security patches. All CUs contain the fixes from previous ones so any one will have the latest security fixes, but only the B release will add new ones.

C and D releases are optional preview updates with non-security fixed to be in the next Patch Tuesday release, and occur in the 3rd/4th weeks of the month. In MS terms, an out of band release is any release that doesn't fit in their regular planned B/C/D release schedule.

An out-of-band release is any update that does not follow the standard release schedule. These are reserved for situations where devices must be updated immediately either to fix security vulnerabilities or to solve a quality issues impacting many devices.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

You can upgrade to the initial 22H2 release, then do a windows update, then update with the MSU to this if it hasn't already done so. You can avoid all of this if you wait for MS to provide an iso.

You are given the option to save data and apps. The install migrates the apps and your data to the upgraded OS. It is pretty seamless IME. The installation also makes a copy of your previous version, windows.old, which you can revert back to within 10 days.

My version of windows was 21H2 (OS Build 22000.1098)
and I just got the option from windows update to version 22H2, now I'm on (OS Build 22621.674)
Next I manually Installed KB5019509 now I'm on (OS Build 22621.675)

yes I have doen that numerous times but I also have lost many 3rd party apps doing so. Ill keep reading the whats happening with these updates but for now ill choose to wait for Microsofts public release. Thanks for all your info much appreciated
