Insider KB5027311 Windows 11 Insider Beta 22621.1906 and 22631.1906 - June 22

  • Staff
UPDATE 6/29:

 Windows Blogs:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.1906 and Build 22631.1906 (KB5027311) to the Beta Channel.
  • Build 22631.1906 = New features rolling out.
  • Build 22621.1906 = New features off by default.

KB5027397 Enablement Package for Windows 11 22H2 build 22621.xxx to build 22631.xxx

REMINDER: Insiders who were previously on Build 22624 will automatically get moved to Build 22631 via an enablement package. The enablement package artificially increments the build number for the update with new features getting rolled out and turned on to make it easier to differentiate from devices with the update with features off by default. This approach is being used for the Beta Channel only and is not indicative of any changes or plans for final feature rollouts.

Insiders who landed in the group with new features turned off by default (Build 22621.xxxx) can check for updates and choose to install the update that will have features rolling out (Build 22631.xxxx).

Changes and Improvements in Build 22631.1906

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • You can now hide the time and date in the system tray. You can turn this on by right-clicking on the system tray clock and choosing “Adjust date and time”.

  • When right-clicking on the network icon in the system tray, we’ve added the option to diagnose network problems.

Fixes for BOTH Build 22621.1906 & Build 22631.1906

  • This update addresses a compatibility issue. The issue occurs because of unsupported use of the registry.

About the Beta Channel

The Beta Channel is the place we preview experiences that are closer to what we will ship to our general customers. Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first. However, this does not mean every feature we try out in the Beta Channel will ship. We encourage Insiders to read this blog post that outlines the ways we’ll try things out with Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels.

Amazingly I didn't find any corrupt files after this install.
Same here for once unlike before where the bluetooth files were corrupted. Also experience the hide date/time being opposite than what it says like others have reported, reported it on Feedback Hub where others had already.

Anyone have any idea when we will see 22631 pushed to Release Preview Channel? I've been stuck on build 22623 since last October as I'm trying to exit the Beta Channel back to Release Preview Channel....it's been a looooonnnggg wait. Alternatively, if switch back to beta and get this build and switch back to Release Preview, am I likely to drop back to Release Preview again soon. I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I don't mind being in Release Preview, but I want out of Beta, but not so much that I'm willing to clean install.

You can uninstall all the Beta enablement packages that you find in your system and that should bring you back to Build 22621.xxxx
Then delete the registry key WindowsSelfHost to get out of insider and rerboot.
You can enroll again to Release Preview if you like, or just stay with Public Build 22621.xxxx.

@fg2001gf11F - so that has worked pretty well and my build had dropped back to 22621.1020 and doesn't seem to be incrementing. It appears that KB5027231 has been installed, but windows keeps trying to download and install that update? Anything to be concerned about or just give it time to catchup again?

You can try to delete Windows\SoftwareDistribution and then try windows update again.
If it still fails with that error 0x800f081f you can try update/repair in place using the ISO file for the latest public Build 22621.1848 downloaded from a third party (uupdump.net)

or using the latest MS official MCT ISO 22621.1702.

1687577033542.png

The error 0x800f081 usually occurs because something is missing in the update files.

This update has restored the functionality of MSI mystic light which would not reactivate itself after the monitors woke up after installing 1900.

Thanks @fg2001gf11F - ended up doing the Repair Install using a download of the Windows ISO from Microsoft and everything looks fine and I'm sitting on 1848 and no stuck/hung updates. Tried using uudump, but couldn't get around a Setup has Failed to Validate the Product Key error.

Glad you could fix it.
Can you run winver and post a screenshot, just to see what edition you have, the product key problem may depend on the editon that was installed originally on your PC. The Digital license may be tied to the original edition that was installed on the PC, it may be saved in the BIOS.
With uupdump you have to download the correct edition that matches your license that is currently activated.

It's been a long time since I clean installed. This PC originally had Windows 7 Ultimate and then I took the free Win10 upgrade and then Win11 upgrade. It currently reports as being activated by a digital license.

I did pay attention to the uudump and version setting and thought that I got it correct, but maybe I didn't...

Downloaded and installed without problem. The show hide date is a silly error it shows the build wasn't thoroughly tested. - forgot, they've got us. I don't mind the zero but somebody wasted time on that and it doesn't seem to be an improvement.

Looks like you have the Pro version, the activation should have worked with uupdump too if you downloaded the Windows 11 Pro edition.
I have no idea why you had a problem with activation since it was already activated for Windows 11 Pro. 🤷‍♂️
Anyway, you are all set now, 22621.1848 is the latest current public build for Windows 11. 😉🤷‍♂️

Now noticing that the task bar issue has not been resolved as the error dialog box appears while reducing the window size of any open software by the same amount as the task bar height on both monitors.

I was asking the same thing earlier as it's annoying isn't it. Someone mentioned it started on a dev build and has spread to the beta now. Guess were stuck with it, at least for now.
