Win Update KB5034123 Windows 11 Cumulative Update Build 22621.3007 (22H2) and 22631.3007 (23H2)

UPDATE 1/23:

 Microsoft Support:

January 9, 2024 - KB5034123 (OS Builds 22621.3007 and 22631.3007)

IMPORTANT After February 27, 2024, there will no longer be optional, non-security preview releases for Windows 11, version 22H2. Only cumulative monthly security updates will continue for the supported editions of Windows 11, version 22H2.

For information about Windows update terminology, see the article about the types of Windows updates and the monthly quality update types. For an overview of Windows 11, version 23H2, see its update history page.

Note Follow @WindowsUpdate to find out when new content is published to the Windows release health dashboard.

Highlights

  • New! The coming weeks will bring a richer weather experience to your lock screen. This includes dynamic, interactive weather updates. So, as you hover over the weather on your lock screen, you will see more information. When you tap or click on the weather card and sign in, Microsoft Edge opens with the full forecast in MSN weather. If you already use Weather in Settings > Personalization > lock screen > Lock screen status, there is nothing for you to do. Also, this new experience will be on by default if Lock screen status is set to “None.” Like today, lock screen status will be available when you lock your screen no matter which personalization option you select (Windows spotlight, Picture, or Slideshow).

  • This update addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.

Improvements

Windows 11, version 23H2

Important: Use EKB KB5027397 to update to Windows 11, version 23H2.

This security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:
  • This build includes all the improvements in Windows 11, version 22H2.
  • No additional issues are documented for this release.

Windows 11, version 22H2

This security update includes improvements that were a part of update KB5033375 (released December 12, 2023). When you install this KB:
  • This update addresses an issue that affects the ActiveX scroll bar. It does not work in IE mode.
  • This update addresses an issue that causes your device to shut down after 60 seconds. This occurs when you use a smart card to authenticate on a remote system.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects the display of a smart card icon. The icon does not appear when you sign in. This occurs when there are multiple certificates on the smart card.
  • This update addresses a known issue that might affect some Wi-Fi adapters. They might not connect to some networks. This might occur after you install KB5032288 or KB5033375. This issue is more likely to occur if the Wi-Fi networks use 802.1x to authenticate. It is not likely that home networks will have this issue.
If you installed earlier updates, only the new updates contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

For more information about security vulnerabilities, please refer to the Security Update Guide website and the January 2024 Security Updates.

Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.2567 and 22631.2567

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues in this update

Applies toSymptomWorkaround
IT adminsUsing the FixedDrivesEncryptionType or SystemDrivesEncryptionType policy settings in the BitLocker configuration service provider (CSP) node in mobile device management (MDM) apps might incorrectly show a 65000 error in the "Require Device Encryption" setting for some devices in your environment. Affected environments are those with the “Enforce drive encryption type on operating system drives” or "Enforce drive encryption on fixed drives" policies set to enabled and selecting either "full encryption" or "used space only". Microsoft Intune is affected by this issue but third-party MDMs might also pe affected.

Important This issue is a reporting issue only and does not affect drive encryption or the reporting of other issues on the device, including other BitLocker issues.
To mitigate this issue in Microsoft Intune, you can set the “Enforce drive encryption type on operating system drives” or "Enforce drive encryption on fixed drives" policies to not configured.

We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
All usersWindows devices using more than one (1) monitor might experience issues with desktop icons moving unexpectedly between monitors or other icon alignment issues when attempting to use Copilot in Windows (in preview). To prevent users from encountering this issue, Copilot in Windows (in preview) might not be available on devices that have been used or are currently being used in a multimonitor configuration.

We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
All usersThe color font format for COLRv1 does not render properly. This format enables Windows to display emoji with a 3D-like appearance. We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

How to get this update

Before installing this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates and Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions.

Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)YesThis update will automatically sync with WSUS if you configure Products and Classifications as follows:
Product: Windows 11
Classification: Security Updates

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

YES, after installing the language pack update in windows store,

DISM SCANHEALTH command found error "The component store is repairable."

This would never happen.

I'm tired of these stupid mistakes :/

I'm sorry, I'm sharing this information again because I'm 100% sure.

Yes, I returned to my clean image with Macrium.

See the picture; SFC and DISM scans give no errors. Because I didn't do windows update clean in disk cleaner.

capture_20240111063214375.jpg

If I run Disk Cleanup and clean the Win Update files as well, SFC finds the same bluetooth error as usual. DISM scan will find no errors.

If I run a DISM CHECKHEALTH scan after Windows Store silently updates the Language Pack in the background, it will not find any errors.

Then

If I run a DISM SCANHEALTH scan it will find errors. "The component store is repairable."

Then, when I do the DISM RESTOREHEALTH command, it takes a strangely long time.

I tried going back to the Macrium image a few times tonight and the scenario was always the same.

I never thought that the language pack update would cause such a problem.

What do you think/suggest?

Thanks

It shows differently now, the about part is complete. I think it's fixed. But I don't understand why Windows security was like this in the clean installation.

Check the folder SecurityHealth to see what is in it. That is where they put the updates from kb5007651.
You are now ahead with 1.0.2401.13001.0, I did not get that yet. 🤷‍♂️
The updates for Security come down with W.U., they make take a long time before they show up.
The alternative is to install from the MS Catalog manually when they are available.
I just installed manually the same 1.0.2401.13001.0 as yours. 🤷‍♂️
