Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3140 (KB5034851) to the Beta Channel.

REMINDER: All Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will now be on the same build (Build 22635.xxxx) via an enablement package. For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle (shown in the image below) to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your device over time once they are ready.

[Copilot in Windows*]​

  • We are making a change where the Copilot icon is shown on the right side of the system tray on the taskbar to make the entry point to Copilot more clear and easily accessible by being closer to where the Copilot pane opens. As part of this change, we have defaulted the “show the desktop” behavior for the far-right corner of the taskbar to off and this can be re-enabled in the taskbar behaviors section under Settings > Personalization > Taskbar (you can simply right-click on the taskbar to get to this). This is just beginning to roll out to Insiders in the Beta Channel so not every will see this change right away.

About the Beta Channel​

The Beta Channel is the place we preview experiences that are closer to what we will ship to our general customers. Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first. However, this does not mean every feature we try out in the Beta Channel will ship. We encourage Insiders to read this blog post that outlines the ways we’ll try things out with Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels.

*Getting new features: For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Copilot is Microsoft's AI. Very different from Google, which is a search engine, though I believe it does use some AI.

Just been offered it in the last half hour, another unexpected update, they seem to be coming thick and fast after the Christmas break. Noticing the comments about copilot and having no idea what it is, I found the icon at the far right side.

    Acer will not allow WD Black SN8100 to function in m.2 slot 0 and Crucial T710 ssd's to function in either slot.
Installed 22635.3140 a couple of days ago--no problems so far. Still enjoying the StartAllBack Taskbar immensely. It's very hard to understand why Microsoft cannot restore this functionality to Windows 11--even as my $4.99 SAB software does so transparently. I really must say I don't like the bog-standard bottom-screened taskbar at all, not even a little bit. I tend to forget Win11 doesn't ship with an attractive, versatile taskbar! BTW, SAB has worked with every build of Win11 in the beta releases Microsoft has released--author always updates within a day when a new build is out that requires it. This version has worked wonderfully with the last several Win11 builds. DesktopCropped2023.jpg
It's a cutdown, shrunk version of my 4k desktop I took a year ago that illustrates what SAB looks like when deployed in Win11 at the top of the screen. It's got a lot of configuration options for either side of the screen or the bottom, and for the Start Menu, of course, and to me, it looks better than the standard Win11 taskbar all around. Functionality is great.

I really must say I don't like the bog-standard bottom-screened taskbar at all, not even a little bit. I tend to forget Win11 doesn't ship with an attractive, versatile taskbar! BTW, SAB has worked with every build of Win11 in the beta releases Microsoft has released--author always updates within a day when a new build is out that requires it. This version has worked wonderfully with the last several Win11 builds. View attachment 86716
It's a cutdown, shrunk version of my 4k desktop I took a year ago that illustrates what SAB looks like when deployed in Win11 at the top of the screen. It's got a lot of configuration options for either side of the screen or the bottom, and for the Start Menu, of course, and to me, it looks better than the standard Win11 taskbar all around. Functionality is great.

I already enabled copilot button on the far-right side, next to the notification icon. how do I bring back the search highlights pictures on search box?

I remember that there's already a guide using regedit to change bing icon to search highlights, but it seems that I couldn't find it anymore.

But I haven't read the forums since early December 2023 and I found another way to do it, right click Start menu and click on Desktop on the bottom of that menu.
