Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Build 26100.994 (KB5039304) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 26100).

This update includes the following features and improvements:
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC). It fails to verify the policies of some apps.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects WDAC. It reports a certain class of its policies as not active or not authorized.
  • This update addresses an issue that might cause DWM.exe to stop responding.
  • This update brings Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles up to date for certain mobile operators.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Unified Write Filter (UWF). Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) API calls to shut down or restart a system throws an access denied exception.
  • This update addresses an issue believed to be the underlying cause of some Insiders noticing stutters in some animations recently (dropping frames), particularly with Task View.

I'm not on the Insiders program so I just grab an msu. When the final version comes out in the fall, updates will then come through Windows Update.

This update messed up Winget for me. When I ran winget list, a lot of odd things showed up I'm not used to seeing. Also, when I ran the DISM routine, I had to restore health.

I'm on the main release branch (not Release Preview) and just received the KB5039304 update. Build has been raised to 26100.1000.
Fast installation, everything is perfect otherwise.

I've had to run /restorehealth for every 24H2 update so far, never once on 23H2.
At least we know it's specific to one machine.

Winget looks fine here but then it's not something I use often.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

I updated the underlying winget-ci to the most recent stable version. No errors running wingetUI on top of it.

I have 26100.1000 showing as an optional update as a non-Insider. That's typically what I've seen in the past when a public preview with the same build number gets offered on the following Patch Tuesday. It sort of makes sense and may explain why .994 did not show up in WU for non-Insiders.

RP is 24H2 26100.xxxx, Dev shares a common set of system files with RP, it's 26120.xxxx is 26100 with an enablement package installed.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.
