Insider KB5072032 Windows 11 Insider Canary build 28000.1340 (26H1) - Dec. 9

UPDATE 12/15:

 Windows Insider Blog:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28000.1340 to the Canary Channel. (KB 5072032)

What’s new in Build 28000.1340

[General]

  • This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.
  • This update is beginning to enable some more of the new features and improvements originally released with the October non-security preview update for Windows 11, version 24H2 and 25H2.

[Administrator Protection]

[Storage]

  • Fixed an issue which could cause some Storage Spaces to become inaccessible or Storage Spaces Direct to fail when creating a storage cluster.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel

  • The builds we release to the Canary Channel represent the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows. Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Many features in the Canary Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • Some features may show up in the Dev and Beta Channels first before showing up in the Canary Channel.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.
  • To get off the Canary Channel, a clean install of Windows 11 will be required. As a reminder – Insiders can’t switch to a channel that is receiving builds with lower build numbers without doing a clean installation of Windows 11 due to technical setup requirements.
  • Check out Flight Hub for a complete look at what build is in which Insider channel.
Thanks,
Windows Insider Program Team

Waiting for the first guinea pig to test Task Manager to see if MS fixed the multiple sessions issue when closing the app using the top right X..

In the meantime, I'll download the .MSU on Deskmodder.de, it's fairly small in size, 2.3GB.

Edit: Much too impatient, took one for the team. No issues so far and Task Manager got its fix.

Curious, for those of you that have this update. Looking at the Task Manager app process within Task Manager, it has very erratic CPU usage with significant spikes. Anyone else notice the behavior described? I was on the initial 28000.1 before updating and did not notice the same effect. It might be related to the Task Manager bug fix that came with this release.

Seeing that this is probably our Holiday gift or as I see it, our Christmas present, I'm making a Macrium image of my old PowerSpec G156 then I'll give it a try. I'll update my laptop and my new PowerSpec B746 later this week.

This flashing file explore window is now happening also with Canary build 28000.1340. Both white flashing in Dark mode and black flashing in Light mode can be reproduced, just changing mode while explorer is already open on home and then adding a tab.
The latest attempted fix by Microsoft is just not working correctly it just created a different failing behavior. 😵‍💫🤬🤷‍♂️

Here is flashing a black window while in Light mode reproduced with this build. 😂🤷‍♂️

It's not a bug, it's just what happens when you mount Explorer inside an Electron app.
They just tried a fix and added a different bug. 🤣
It was working fine on Canary before this last update.
